Does anyone know the best bet for taking the AFA during the summer, in regards of who administers it? The obvious answer would be a school coach, but 1) I'm not longer in school and 2) my highschool is a few hours from where I live.

Here are the rules:
The test can be administered by any physical education instructor, athletics coach, an active duty officer, active duty E-7 or NJROTC instructor.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest NROTC unit or a Naval recruiting station to inquire if they have an AD officer or AD E-7 available to adminster the AFA.

@NavyNOLA Do you know if an AFJROTC or AJROTC instructor would be able to administer it? There are no NJROTC units in my area and I am struggling to find a time that works well for both myself and the NROTC officer at the recruiters office.

Or does an athletic director count as a PE Instructor/coach? I apologize for somewhat trivial questions - I'm just trying to coordinate this all before I leave for college.

MOST athletic directors at public schools have coached one of the school sports teams or taught PE. If so, I would put more likelihood on the AD than an Army or AF JROTC instructor. The rules are pretty specific.

That's what I thought as well. The AD at my high school was able to administer my CFA for the USNA which has similar rules regarding who can administer the test in regards to high school coaches.

Isn't your AD too far away? There is no CPO (E-7) at the local recruiter?
I used my high school's AD for last year's CFA, however I have contacted the 6 high schools in my current area and the only person who can do it is an AD at one of the further high schools so I wanted to confirm before I drove decently far for a fitness test. He has a degree in P.E. And has coached multiple sports. I have contacted my recruiter about it and will schedule a test through them if the test I take with the AD is not valid, but they seem to believe it will be fine. Thank you for all of your answers on this topic - it has been very helpful! I know coordinators and recruiters are the direct source of information, but this site usually gets quicker responses and because I'm trying to get this finished before leaving, I'm trying to get everything done as quickly as possible. Again, many thanks! :)
