Will the Naval Academy accept Latin as a foreign during your high school career?

Latin

Hi,

My daughter studied four years of latin in high school and she is part of the Class of 2013.

First, there are no language "requirements" to be accepted to USNA. It is desirable but not required if you take other challenging courses instead.

Any language will do for high school language purposes. However, if you want to validate some or all of your language requirements at USNA, you want to take one of the languages they offer. I believe those are: Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, and Japanese.

Division 3 - Humanities requires 4 semesters of foreign language for USNA Graduation, neither Division 1 (Engineering) or Division 2 (Math/Science) have a language requirement for graduation.

Agree. I should have been more specific. Although tech majors don't need a language, that is one way for tech majors to fulfill their humanities distribution requirement (or at least it was). And, validating some or all of your language can free up to 12 hours in your schedule. Very nice.

Thanks guys.
I was just wondering because I believe that the Air Force Academy would prefer you take a foreign language that people today still communicate with. In other words, they would rather you take Spanish than Latin (dead language) during you're high school career.

I hope that doesn't hurt me too much, because I have 3 years of Latin under my belt.

I know three languages (english, spanish, and korean) but I don't have any credits for korean but could knowing it still help?
