Looking at the previous appointment threads, I am becoming curious about how many candidates have received appointments so far. Usually, there are a couple appointments in the last week of September/first week in October and I was wondering if anyone has heard back considering this is the time when the first word comes out.

There has been an appointment thread that was created but it has been pretty inactive so far, though I have heard of people with appointments already.

I know about the 2022 thread, I was just wondering what other people think about the relatively low amount of appointments thus far.

MurfTheSurf was diligent about encouraging people to post to the appointment thread. I think he had a secret network that notified him and he then contacted the appointee to get the post updated. (perhaps he was more than slightly obsessed with the appointment process). Unfortunately, he is no longer available for that role.

Can someone please post a link to the 2022 thread? Thanks.

There's really nothing to think about it.

Appointments this early are extremely rare. Almost all have likely gone to LOA recipients with a Pres nom or nom from a source other than Congress. The reason is that most candidates need MOC noms and very few if any of those slates have been submitted to USNA at this point. Some MOCs will submit slates as early as November but most don't submit until late December or January. As those slates come in, LOA recipients with MOC noms will start to be offered appointments and then those without LOAs (the vast majority of the class) will start seeing appointments -- typically in Feb and March.
