I really messed up in my CFA today and I will not be able to retake the test before my deadline on Saturday. My scores were:

52 bball throw ( I don't know my average)

8.6 shuttle run (I don't know my average)

7 pull ups ( My average is usually 12-17)

52 crunches (average is usually at least in the 70s)

57 Pushups ( I usually hit the max at 75)

and a 6:41 mile ( my best is a 4:55 and I usually get sub 6 fairly easily)

These are all well below my normal scores and well below the numbers listed on the academy admissions site, so I was wondering if I am going to be physically disqualified because of this? Will they allow me to retake it if they don't like the scores or is it over since my deadline is on Saturday?

The real question is, do you have a choice? If you can't retake it, your only courses of action are to give up (which I don't think you want to do) or submit the scores you have. After that all you can do is work on any remaining parts of your application and continue to excel in your current activities. They don't post minimums for a reason, so none of us can definitively say whether you'll be asked to retest or not. That being said, continue working out. At this point though it's out of your hands, so it's best to worry about what you can still control.

If it comes down to it , they will ask you to retake the CFA.
As Hoodlum15 suggested, try not to worry about it.
That's easy for us to say - but really it's out of your control - and worrying about it does nothing for you.

When you say, "I usually run sub 6:00" or "I usually get the max at 75" are you talking about when you do the events individually or is that a typical practice CFA?

The most important thing about preparing for the CFA is that you practice the events in order with the correct exercise and rest times. It's surprising how much of a toll the consecutive exercises take on your body (doing sit ups and push ups directly before running the mile will significantly impact your time).

I passed(at least Navy's standards with-

50 ft bball, 5 pull-ups, 8.?? Shuttle, 75 pushups, ~65 crunches, 5:00 mile, so if they're the same "minimums," then your crunches is the only one that looks concerning.

If you did not even meet your own averages, it is clear you did not practice (as STRONGLY SUGGESTED) the CFA timed, in order of events. Even exceptional athletes make this mistake.

Please, all you aspiring cadets & mids, practice practice practice, and do so TIMED, IN ORDER OF EVENTS. So much heartache and worry can then be avoided.

It is up to USAFA whether they feel you qualify for a re-do.

Breakitbuyit: "I passed." I am sure this brought you a sigh of relief, but (ok, stern mom hat on now) please note: you should STRIVE for the very best, not just a Phew! I passed.

There are indeed times when we all are relieved that we did not "fail." My next door neighbor as a kid came to our house on the last day of school in utter delight: "I passed I passed I passed!" She did not have to take Algebra I over again and was thrilled. But do strive to be the best of the best.

There now, go to your day job.

I think what Breakitbuyit means in his post, saying that he passed, is in reply to the original poster who was concerned that he didn't pass, and worried that his application file might have been closed on account of it. Breakitbuyit isn't saying he is content with just passing, but comparing his numbers to the original poster to show that his CFA was likely to have passed as well. That's all I read into it. If I was worried that my DS's file would be closed (as in "Game Over", try again next year) I would be relieved if his only opportunity to test at and pass the had been successful as well.
