I was talking to my ALO and she said boots will be issued to me- is this true?
 
Yes. You could've purchased them at Orientation, but I know most get them during inprocessing.
 
you will get EVERYTHING issued to you. all you need to bring is your required paperwork and, if nothing has changed, a razor. unless you're a female

usafa takes great care of their basics :)
 
The "Instructions to Appointees" booklet also says to bring toiletries.
 
okay then well yours will be different. we showed up with nothing.. back when it was hard :) hahahahah
 
$250

I don’t get it, what is the $250 for? They said incidentals like soap and toothpaste. How much tooth paste do you need?
 
I'm sure there will be lots of little things to buy at the C-store (isn't an ironing board needed?). Either way, I don't see it to be hard at all to spend 250 bucks.
 
agreed. 2 months with 250 is plenty, but i think they tell you to have more than you really need. just in case...
 
I read 150...anywho, 250 dollars is still a small price to pay considering any necessities will be pretty much free for 4 years
 
stuff i remember buying w/ magic money in basic:

shaving cream
vacuum
ironing board
iron
windex
paper towels
starch
paper towels
paper towels
dusters
paper towels
windex
starch
aaaaaaand paper towels.

you can definitely blow through 250 easily
 
How are we supposed to bring toothpaste/shaving cream/ razors on the airplane?

TSA is pretty strict nowadays, for a good reason.

Put it in your checked luggage or buy them in Co. Springs before inprocessing.
 
I think im just going to mail my razor and all that stuff to my dad's friend out there (he'll be my sponsor.)
 
Well then, you'll be waiting at least 3 weeks for it.
Doolie Day Out is the first basic/sponsor interaction, unless you somehow get him as your B&B host.
 
I thought I heard somewhere that shaving razors are allowed by TSA now, but I'm not completely sure.
Anyone know if magic money will exist next year? I also thought I heard somewhere that that's going away.
