Branches

Everyone loves tanks. Armor is a great branch! Congratulations!

Lots of folks in the circles I'm a part of got MP. Most seem very happy, and it's interesting because since I've been involved in ROTC, MP hasn't been a very highly assigned branch.

Combat Arms is good

Only if it's the branch you wanted.

There are always a lot of cadets that choose a Logistic or Support Branch for various and good reasons. Here's hoping everyone gets a Branch they are happy with. The funny thing is, sometimes they don't know they are happy with their Branch until they finish BOLC and get to their first unit.

Our son got Finance, but branch detail Infantry. Finance was his first choice (he even ADSO'ed for it), but Infantry was his last choice.

I had never heard of ADA and I'm sure I had no idea Finance was an option. I keep learning new stuff all the time.

This sequence will be fantastic for your son. Hope he takes full advantage of the next couple of years...BOLC...follow-on to Ranger School. Seize this moment. Finance can wait.

So does he go to IBOLC first and then go to Finance BOLC when his branch detail is over. And would they send branch detail officers thru Ranger School? Just curious.

Ranger School following Initial Entry Training is the standard for Infantry Officers. It doesn't matter if they are branch detailed. They will transition after their initial assignment - he will go to the Finance Career Course.
