" As President Barack Obama and tens of thousands of people headed to the Naval Academy this week, officials at the service academy were handling a case of swine flu after a faculty member was diagnosed with the illness."

From the online edition of the Annapolis Capital.

Overblown. Don't worry about it. You'll had some sick midshipmen, and it'll be over.

Okay folks...this is a prime example of the media taking a "non-event" and totally hyping it for ratings.

Swine flu...gee...what a horror.

Oh yeah, I had swine flu in 1976...as did quite a few other folks; especially in Colorado and at the AF Academy...one poor army soldier died in the entire outbreak (he was, if memory serves, the first diagnosed).

Fast forward: 2009..."SWINE FLU...World fears Pandemic!!!!" 24/7 media...."...there are now "X" cases CONFIRMED in "YYY" country. Cruise lines stop sailing to certain locations, EU recommends NO air travel to country with cases..." etc...etc...etc...

Uh...hmm...did I miss something here? Doesn't "the flu" kill approximately 36,000 people ANNUALLY in the USA alone (this from the CDC)??? And the world is panicking about a few thousands cases and a small number of fatalities??

Not to sound uncaring but....

What was on page 2?

Yeah, it seems odd that this supposed "pandemic" is supposed to happen. If that's true, all the other flu strains should be a pandemic, because last I checked, there was a "flu season."
