Has anyone gotten notification regarding VMI as of yet? My son has applied early decision and is anxiously awaiting to hear if he got accepted.

I applied regular decision but my offer was dated November 17... my application was completed November 13. I only received it in the mail yesterday...the mail may be slow. This means that the board has already met at least once (but likely more) and like turtlerunnernc says, he'll most likely know by next month.

He has my best wishes, and good luck to you as a parent!

Did your status or anything show up on postview regarding your acceptance?

My DS applied for early decision and received a letter yesterday stating that he wasn't selected for ealy decision, but that he would be looked at again the next go round. It was a very nicely put together letter - basically we liked what we saw, but are not quite ready to offer acceptance.

Did your son get a ROTC scholarship?

He did not during the first board, so we wait until the 2nd (last) board in February. He applied NROTC-MO. He did apply and get into The Citadel, so scholarship or not, we are working hard to make that a reality.

I just checked again for you because I wanted to ensure that the information I am giving you is accurate.

There is still nothing online that indicates an acceptance from VMI. My letter came via mail only--I wonder what VMI's process is with Accepted Candidate portals.

I wish I knew, but I regret to inform you that I have no idea. Again, good luck! I will let you know the instant I see something on there or get something else in the mail. My acceptance letter did contain a warning that I will be receiving more mail over the next few days about completing VMI's specific physical test and other things.

My DS also got into the Citadel. His first choice is VMI though. He also got an AROTC scholarship, 1st board.

JJJ--hang in there. My DS's VMI appointment letter was dated 17 Dec 2014. It came in a large envelope. His portal changed much later -- it seems like it was mid to late January when his portal finally changed. (I remember this because we were out of town visiting family for Christmas. We left town on 18 Dec before the mail arrived so he didn't know he had been accepted until after we got back in town after New Year's!) He was also awarded a 4 yr AROTC scholarship, but he did not apply to VMI as "Early Decision" -- if the process timelines hold true, your DS should be hearing from VMI any day now, but it may take until mid-December. Have faith.

JJJ . . . Congrats!!! . . . Told ya!!! . . . he is "Early Decision" right? . . . that means he's a comin' . . . he will be a member of the Rat Mass 2019+3! . . . they don't become the "Class of 2022" until after "Breakout" sometime in the second semester of their Freshman/Rat Year . . . ;-)

Feel free to reach out. There are a lot of good sources and contacts for VMI information on this page. (turtlerunnernc, EOD/SEALMom, bruno, myself, and others are happy to share.)

VMI is a difficult, but great path . . . welcome to an extraordinary family of current Cadets (the "Old Corps"), Cadet parents, and Alumni . . .
