Boarded or Not?

I'm hoping someone can help us to understand. DS completed the NROTC application by the end of August, met with his recruiter several times through the process, was present when the application was submitted.
At this point the Portal still says "No decision has been made on your application".
At no point did DS get info that his app was going in front of the Board. Can we assume that it has? Meaning: is there a portal update that we missed that he was in fact going in front of the Board? Or are we to assume that though his application was likely among the first to be received he still, for some reason, has not been boarded?

NROTC application status will not change if your application has been boarded. The next change after "No decision has been made on your application" is either a scholarship award or a denial. It would be a fair assumption to make, especially since your application was submitted in August, that your application has been boarded and scored. NROTC is waiting to see how the rest of the NROTC applicants look to make a final decision on your application. You could be waiting until late April. A decision could be made earlier.

Or are we to assume that though his application was likely among the first to be received he still, for some reason, has not been boarded? Not the assumption I would make. It is just a matter of waiting and seeing how DS stacks up against all the NROTC applicants.

I want to emphasize what 5Day said about April. My DS did not get a negative reply until mid-April. He attended #1 out of state college because of some scholarships that brought tuition down to in-state rates. He also enrolled in NROTC as a college programmer, Marine Option. He won a scholarship in the middle of his sophomore year and is serving as a 1st Lt today. There is more than one way to skin a cat if it's one's intent to serve. Be sure to work on backup plans and alternate scholarship sources.

Thank you very much for the clarification. I understand it to mean: “no news is good news, all is well. Patience young grasshopper!” :)

Thank you for the insight! We are steadily working on all plans. Each college listed on the app has responded with an acceptance and we will stay the course.
The goal is a commission. The avenue to that still to be determined. Faith is our friend!
It’s so good to see these positive results after initial disappointments. So glad to hear your DS is doing well!
