Appointment

I know the USCGA website says Early Action decisions published by December 24, but that is a Sunday and according to the USCGA calendar, winter leave begins on December 15, so is is likely that decisions will be out this week or will some really come out on Sunday December 24?
Winter leave is for cadets. I doubt admissions office staff gets 4 weeks off for Christmas break. Announcements may come a couple days earlier, especially for the recruited athletes. I've resigned myself to the probability we won't know anything until 12/24. Anything earlier will be a bonus.

Could you please confirm someone please??

DS received email few hours ago, it says "congratulations on your appointment", but the email mostly talked about the AEP (Academy Experience Program).
It did not say "full appointment" or "conditional appointment" or any other appointment information.
We have not received any other emails or letters concerning his "appointment" and are confused. Could anybody explain or help us?

DD got that email, but it was preceded by a call from her A.O. and a portal update in BD. It was not the first notification. I'd suggest checking BD. Your appointment letter may be there. Look at the application checklist in Bear's Den. All of the boxes went away except CCEB review complete, which was checked and had a link next to it that said decision available. Click that link.

DS applied EA and has not received an email saying his application was up for review. If all EA decisions will be made by Dec 24, and most applicants are notified that their application is up for review, does anyone have any thoughts as to why he hasn't received an email?

Does his Bear's den show his application is complete and ready for review? If so, I wouldn't worry about it - they may have gotten so busy that they didn't send those emails at some point. When did your son submit his application? Are you sure he checked the box asking for his application to be reviewed in EA?

tx2022 and KP Eng, thank you for the reply.

DS did not receive the "up for review" email, a phone call, and an appointment letter.
The title of the email he received was "Academy Experience Program" and not the "appointment", so we did not know if he has officially been appointed.

Yes, BD shows app complete and ready for review. He definitely applied for EA, (he doublechecked the application). He applied on Oct 11th. It's so stressful!! And don't even get me started on how stressful it is for DS. :)

Based on coffee4you's experience, your son should be checking his email!

My DoDMERB has two remedials and one disqualification item they are asking for AMI's for. Have requested medical records be sent and completed athletic questionnaire. Will having these hinder receiving an appointment or can I get a conditional one. I guess I am asking if sometimes they don't give conditional appointments if the DoDMERB is still in process.

The DODMERB and Coast Guard Academy application process are separate. If you have not completed your DODMERB(or in your case if you are waiting on waivers) you can certainly be offered a conditional appointment.

Ugh! He's been checking email regularly, including junk and spam folders. It is confusing that his application is not up for review yet. Does anyone know how long the review board takes to review an application? I realize we'll all know within the next 10 days or so, but we're all driving ourselves crazy checking email and BD.

DS was completed before October 1 and hasn't heard anything. Looking on the bright side we really are still at the point that "no news is good news". Patience really is a virtue and we have to hope that he is still being considered be it for an appointment or some sort of prep program. Stay the course, remain positive, focus on the here and now, and remember that each day without a denial is day you're still in the hunt.

Even though the date to hear appointments back is December 24th, they won't be doing any work that weekend ahead of Christmas, so everyone should technically hear by December 22nd. Even though it is only two days difference it saves two days of waiting!

DS application was also completed before October 1, received notice for DoD physical two days later. Finally received the 'qualified' status from DoD today after two month's wait (and a remedial before Thanksgiving), which was a tremendous relief. Received word Oct. 21 that the application would go up for review within two weeks, but there's been no word since. After reading many other threads, I can't help but wonder if we are delayed because we are from Virginia, and admissions is inundated with Virginian applicants? We are making ourselves crazy with conjecture after four months. It is so nice to know we're not alone.
