Appointment

I think the hanging in limbo and not knowing is worse than being denied. Dodmerb hasn't even updated. States still under review since October.

For all those still chewing their nails - I have feeling appointments are going to come raining down tomorrow. Good luck to all of you!
DD waitlisted as well.
I'm so sorry for those that are receiving less than hoped for news. DS is still waiting to hear anything.

It appears that those getting notice now are either rejected, or waitlisted. I haven't gone back and reviewed each post to know if this is fact, though.

Have there been any recent appointments??

There was one appointment posted here yesterday. I still think there are many more to come. Whether the recipients of those apointments are on this site or not, who knows.

If waitlisted any chance they hear anything before May 1? What are the stats on EA waitlist?

They said that there is a slim chance to hear anything before Mya 1st since they have to see the amount of accepted appointments to the Academy.

Last year the stats for waitlisted people were:
Students offered waitlist: 203
Students accepted waitlist position: 203
Students admitted from waitlist: 50

Considering that there were 25% admitted, it has better chances than the 16% that were admitted from Early Action that Year.

Thanks for the info!

Hi! I am not a recruited athlete and female. I just got my offer for CGAS last night! I'm so happy. CGA was my first and only choice. My plan B was to self prep for plan A. :)
So thankful. Will be praying for everyone else!
That is my daughter's plan B. We are still waiting to hear.

Congratulations! DS is in this years CGAS program. It has been a great opportunity and quite an honor! If you have any questions feel free to ask.

My DD and I are thinking his admission chance is less and less each passing day. Of course he is not being sought as an “an athlete” nor he is a “ blue chip” or any other “chip.” As the deadline approaches, I can only deduce the remaining decisions are going to be in a form of a generic congrat or regret email. I am also pretty confidence we will all be finding out this Friday. It is too cruel to get a rejection letter on Christmas Eve. At least give the candidate two days to console. Good luck to those still waiting and congrats to those future cadets. You have earned it!

Well said Flyingtigremom. All the Cadet Candidates and moms and dads have earned true fortitude and perseverance. I learned a lot through many posts people shared. And with each post I read I felt the emotional connection to you all. I think we all learned much about ourselves through the SA process. It demands much more than regular college apps. Because SAs want 360 best from all their candidates. Academies demand more and expect more from candidates. And parents become so much more involved with their children's process and their success and future serving our country. What ever decisions you receive, everyone should be very proud of yourselves. Very proud. Good luck to you all and Merry Christmas and best wishes!

Hello everyone,
Sad morning for us today. DS was rejected for both CGAS and CGA. Devastating to hear this news, but all of us knew it was a tough road to travel.

I have my fingers crossed for all of you that you receive the news that was hoped for. No matter the outcome, enjoy the holidays, and on to Plan B for those in our shoes.

Thank you all for being such a good group!! All the best from our house, to yours.

Got the news at 1:30 this morning. Rejected outright. Can't believe they waited so long when the LOA said application was up for review a month ago. Seems they could have let us know a while ago, as Plan B was put on hold because DS was eternally hopeful. Best of luck to everyone and I hope the other last-minute notifications hold better news for everyone else.

We are in the same boat. She is devastated but insists she will self prep and apply again next year. I would prefer her not. Congratulations to those who received good news! Merry Christmas to all.

CGA was my absolute first pick. Only pick really. Not only does the Coast Guard have an amazing mission, but the people and Academy are awesome. I attended Genesis and found that inclusion for females is hands down the best of all the branches. If she really wants to go to CGA have her self prep and reapply. What Academy wouldn't be interested in an applicant who was dedicated enough to take the initiative, time, dedication and expense to self prep. Merry Christmas and God bless!
