As a child I was always short, so my parents took me to an endocrinologist who prescribed human growth hormone to me. I took it for about 5 years and just stopped it in December. I’m now 5’7” but understand that any prior use of hgh is disqualifying for military service. I was devastated to find this out but was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and received a medical waiver for it. It has been my dream to go to West Point since for as long as I can remember. :(

You might want to contact Mr Larry Mullen at DoDMERB with your question.

Lawrence.e.mullen.civ@mail.mil

That is Mr. Mullen's email. He is very helpful.

I wouldn't bother Mullen with that. First step is to read the list of disqualifiers on the the Dodmerb website as well as any info you can find for the SA you are applying to. If it is in fact an automatic disqualifier, neither Mullen nor anyone else in a position of authority will tell you anything about the odds or possibility or probability of a waiver, as that is entirely within the control of the SA, and what they decided to do could change from year to year.

From what I have read on **LINK REMOVED**, doc written "I have seen waivers both granted and denied for history of HGH treatment.""

Hope, you'll be qualified. Good luck!
