There are 3 recommendation forms that you will print out as part of the application. (Most of it is completed and submitted "on-line").

The three LORs should be returned to you in sealed envelopes with the teacher's signature across the seal.

Although the web site may state the application will be available in August, it usually shows up in September, so you'll probably be going back to your 11th grade teachers after you have started 12th grade.

Last years application was available online August 22, 2008 (I had to check my daughter's Dodmerb site for the day). We checked the site daily for a week before the application was available online.

That put her in the Dodmerb quickly, We got the paperwork from Concordia within 2 weeks and scheduled her Dodmerb physical and eye exam.. both were completed by September 20th (if you wait to long EVERYONE els will be doing them to, and good luck getting into a clinic)

it was right after school started when she started asking teachers for LORs. There was a form that the CGA wanted completed in addition to a LOR.

Our congressman also required LORs but didnt want them all from teachers... So additional LORs were gotten from her church youth group leader, girl scout leader and her school principal. She didnt need those for CGA, but she decided to include them as they showed what others (not just educators) thought of her and her abilities....

writting her essays was the hardest and most time consuming....

So in other words, don't ask for letters of recommendations over the summer because they must be completed on a specific form supplied by the CGA (Which won't be available until the appl. is)?

Yes, you may want to actually see the USCGA application before you begin it.
