Get as many nominations as possible. MMI has approx 20 AOG’s that wish they had more than 1 last year. They were all 3 Q qualified many with LOE’s and did not get in mainly due to nomination issues.

You can’t have too many.

DD rec'd both MN congressional & Senator Klobuchar nominations last week for USMA!!! Already up on portal!

My DD did on Tuesday. We have not received any notification other than it appeared on her portal.
Congratulations. Thank You! Our DS has a congressional nomination but we were hoping for one from Mitch too.
Since your son already has a nomination, why would he need a second one?
We were told to apply for every possible nomination. DS received one from a senator and congressman last year, but was medically disqualified due ACL/MCL/MENISCUS RECONSTRUCTION/SURGERY his senior year of h.s. It's been a long journey.

Congrats! Did she get any correspondence from rep or Senator Klobuchar? DS had a congressional nomination added to USAFA portal at the end of Dec. Then last week a nom from Senator Klobuchar showed up in the portal. So far the only direct correspondence from any congressional office was a TWE received this week from Senator Smith’s office saying he didn’t receive a nom from her, which was expected since the senators coordinate in MN. It would be nice to hear something directly from the other offices, but nonetheless grateful to see the noms listed in the USAFA portal.

TWE from Smith’s office this past week after phone call from Congressman and Senator Klobuchars showed in portal so we figured a TWE from Smith was on its way (brother at USMA so we know senators try to not double nominate).....brother never heard anything but certificates/letters from Senators, both kids got calls from Congressman!

How do you find information on how competitive your state/district is, I haven't been able to find anything. We are in Missouri.

You may be able to call your members offices and ask directly. I found an old report online (sorry can't remember where) that showed the number of nominations submitted by each member for the classes of 2009-2012 (I think). It might give you some history. In my district (KY05) Congressman Rogers has his staff host events to increase the number of requests. In the report I mentioned, there was at least one year where he did not submit anyone for USMA. Senator McConnell does not release any information that I could find and Senator Paul has, in the past, released the names of the entire slate. But, I don't know how many submissions he gets.

I can say that my DD got nominations from all three MOC that she qualified for and she did not get asked to come to one interview. While I think she is, obviously, a very high quality candidate, I have to think that most people who request a nomination are high quality. If any of them had received a huge number, I like to think there would have been interviews.

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering how competitive CT was compared to other states. I see a lot of threads on some bigger states but I was wondering about CT. I'm from the 3rd district, Can anyone share their stats if they are from here and have gotten into an academy? Im just trying to see how comptitve my application will be for a nom in my state. Does anyone have a guess on how many apply for a nom?

Hello! I’m from CT-02 and also applying to 2023. I asked this question a couple weeks back so I’ll link you to the thread:

I do not know anything about your district, but my district is not competitive at all (haven’t been interviews in the past few years). I know that the senatorial noms are more competitive as with all states.

Side note—if you are applying to Navy, I was told it is much more competitive than say Army or Air Force. Based on your other posts I’m guessing you’re applying to Annapolis. I’d contact your BGO (I think that’s the equivalent of a Field Force Rep from Army?) and they may be able to give you some idea.

Yeah, Im applying to all the academies but my top two are USNA and USMA. The BGO wasn't able to give me too much information he said until I'm an "official" candidate. The USMA MALO for our area never responded back to me. Did you have better luck? Do you also have an idea of when the reps nom applications open up? Sorry, Im hitting you with so many questions its hard to find people interested in the academies from our little state ;)

No problem on the questions. I’ve had a hard time finding much information on our state. My Field Force Rep emailed me back a week or so after I contacted him and I met with him in person. He said I was highly competitive for my district and you have slightly better test scores than I do. I believe Blumenthal’s noms open in May and none of the others have it posted, but I’m guessing the others will be around then.

DD received her nomination from Jimmy Panetta back in November. He called her and told her he would help her in any way he could throughout her time at USAFA. CA-20

Anyone know if Booker and Menendez coordinate nominations for USNA (i.e. agree not to submit any of the same candidates on their respective slates)?

My understanding is here in NJ there is coordination because it is a very competitive area. My DS received a nom from Frelinghuysen and was informally told by non-MOC source he would therefore hear nothing from the Senators. I am just a mom of a candidate though, not on any of the boards or anything like that.

At a reception held to honor the Congressman’s nominees we met the other families (those who could attend). Some of the nominees had appointments, most did not. My son does not, so we wait to hear. I was so impressed with the young men & women we met! Should my son receive the TWE I can find comfort in knowing those who made it really are outstanding. I confess I look at him a little more in awe given the company he keeps!

But back to your post... I would add that I haven’t heard of anyone here in NJ receiving more than one nom.

If your “favorite candidate” hasn’t heard yet, encourage them to reach out & inquire of the Senators’ offices. No harm in asking....
