Planning on bringing a laptop to sls...was wondering if wifi is provided
Here are my random thoughts on this...these and $4 will buy you a caramel frappuccino:
-The barrack doors don't lock. While the cadets operate on the honor code, attendees of SLS may or may not be people of honor. There is no way to secure your laptop. If it's not on the packing list, don't bring it.
-West Point is big on network security. It's not Starbucks.
-If you cannot go without your laptop a few days, how in the world will you ever survive beast next year if you are accepted?
-While there is likely to be down time in the evenings, wouldn't it be a better use of your time to build relationships w/ other attendees who might end up being your classmates in 2014?
my guess is that you will still be in school during SLS which many people are and want to bring something to help you study for final exams or what not, if so i'm feelin your pain and can say that you have a tough choice to make. you can bring your laptop and use it to study and do work, or you could bring other books and materials that could hopefully work nearly as well
i went last year, you're not going to have a lot of time to do much on your own time and i can assure you that it's gonna take some serious hardcore discipline to pull out the laptop and other study materials when you have that time, some ppl did however and i give them huge credit. it will definitely be a pain hauling it to where you need to go and getting the kind of connection you need. if you have it in you to do all that, go for it, i myself would never imagine doing all of that, that said, have fun at SLS! just remember, the most important things you can do there are to absorb what West Point is about, and to enjoy it and all of the new friends you'll meet there
