I just got notified that I was 3Q'd. But I don't know what the 3Q's are, could somebody help me, please?

Sooo - last year DS got his '3Q' notice early Feb, appointment followed soon after.

BUT - if you are 3Q with a nomination [and congrats BTW] remember that there are over 500 MOC each with a slate of 10 noms [some with more slates] so rough math says 5K nominations not counting VP / presidential. Reduce that by DoDMERB DQs and other [CFA etc] reasons and you might be looking at a pool of ~3K competitive candidates who are 3Q+nom and now getting final WCS rankings for the ~1K spots in USMA '22.

So very very rough estimating says 3Q with nom at this point is likely ~30%-50% odds of ultimately getting an appointment including clearing the waiting list in April and May. A lot better odds than you started with last summer !!

when did you finish your application, where did it show up you were 3Q? Thanks

I finished my application on January 23rd, the last thing I sent in was my push-ups test. For the past two weeks I have been updating my candidate profile with letters of rec and other things. I got notified in the official correspondence section of the candidate portal in the Home tab. The letter is from my RC saying that they have viewed my profile and found it to be 3Q'd. That happened today so it was around 3 weeks.

Hope this helped and good luck!

I looked at the letter and was relieved, but I still have a few more steps. Hopefully, the odds are in my favor!

Do you mind sharing your region? Is that an OK question to ask?

I really wanted to answer with—-yes, we can tell you, but if you don’t know what it means they take away one of your q’s just for asking. Then I realized you’re probably as stressed as my DS is and you might not find that funny. I let a few more adult adults answer before telling you my joke. :)

I wish you would have said that I think it's hilarious. Hopefully your son gets good news soon!

Just remember that not all RCs will send a 3Q letter.
My DD was informed via email by RC that basing from her competitive nomination that she got a shot in USMA and RC will know more by the end of the month. RC also told her that he’s reviewing the file to send it for qualification... was told that it’s good togo. BTW, DD got a 4 yr ROTC scholarship already and also accepted to her first pick university and all her files are all complete (check free), DODMERB Qualified.
I’m curious what does this entail in terms of appointment. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Don't read anything more into it than what it says - she has a shot. There are no tea leaves es or chicken entrails to be read and interpreted here. Save yourself the grief.

I earned a 3-year AROTC scholarship and haven't accepted it yet. On the form it says you can't choose to attend another school including a service academy once you accept it so it's binding. Hopefully, I receive an appointment before the deadline for the scholarship so I don't have to worry about this.
