Excema

Hi All,

I used to have mild exema when I was in elementary school and I occasionally get flare ups.
It does not interfere with my daily life in a negative way (besides the skin being dry and annoying).

A couple years ago I had a pretty bad flare up and was prescribed "desonide" by my doctor.
It is a topical steroid ointment.
Will Dodmerb DQ me for mild excema?

Thanks. I've been doing some poking around and found that the Air Force does not waiver Excema in most cases.

I found that Navy does grant some.
Also, does the Navy still vaccinate for smallpox?
 
Dude I got dq’d by dodmerb for my excema so this was a really nice thread. I’ve been worried sick about it. I also had super mild excema when I went through puberty.
 
From what I read, if you are using prescription creams or medication for it, you will have trouble getting a waiver. If just moisturize to stop it from bothering you, you have a better chance. Dont go by me, this is what i have read over time on this webiste

Let me be more clear, since I clearly mucked my post up. I only use regular moisturizers that are available at places like rite-aid for now. The last major flare up I had was when I was in 9th grade. I have never gotten eczema since then

I use it every day in addition to the moisturizer. My mom makes sure of it LOL. She's got a massive tub of it from Costco.

Did you request a waiver? If so, what happened to it?

I got my first waiver and that was the one that dq'd me. I didn't know what the next step was. My BGO made it sound like I'd get an additional waiver once I received and appointment. Was he wrong in assuming that? I was unaware that I'd have to do something additionally :confused:

Were you Permanently DQ'd? or are there any other steps that you can take once you have been DQ'd to try to not ne DQ'd

My bgo and my friend who’s a mid told me not to worry about it so I’m assuming there will be another opportunity to clear myself.

thats great to hear. As of now I am not too worried about DODMERB as I have not received a scholarship offer yet...but I know at some time I'm gonna have to face them
