I wonder if there will be anything official listing events, etc to go to on the day before R-Day....
I'll be there, too!! How can we find each other?

Maybe a small ribbon pinned to our shirt.....red? I am talking tiny....just enough for us SAF folks to find kindred souls. Anyone else with other ideas, please chime in.
In the future, you won't have that problem if you visit the Chesapeake & Potomac Chapter Parent's Association table (last year they set them up in Leamy Hall for R-day and the Alumni Center on Parent's Weekend).
They sell name badges ($12 each) that identify your name, your local PA chapter, your cadet's name, as well as his/her class year. Order one on R-day and you will have it for Parent's Weekend (when you will see everyone wearing one).
Actually, you can order them directly from the national PA web site through this link:

Ok, I am hoping to put some faces and names together on Rday. Chime in if you will be there. We should try to meet up....it sounds like the parents will have plenty of time to wander about between check in and swearing in.
My husband and I will be there with our son. We are flying in on Sat. and staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Saturday and Sunday night in order to enjoy the few activities available on Sunday, and generally to "acclimate." I'll try to remember the little red ribbon, and look into the nametags too. We are the only ones from Lexington, KY! I am willing to bet that at all the various hotels incoming swabs and families will be rather noticeable--and hopefully, we'll even start meeting on Sunday...
For those staying on the "Mystic" side of the Thames River (such as those who are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Groton) here are the two best breakfast tips you'll ever get. Both are close by.
Somewhere In Time Cafe
3175 Gold Star Hwy
Mystic, CT 06355
Kitchen Little
135 Greenmanville Ave
Mystic, CT 06355
SITC is on the same road as the hotel, just head north (away from I-95) and you'll find it. Get yourself your own coffee mug and pour yourself a cup while you wait. I recommend the blueberry pancakes.
KL is one the same road as the Mystic Historic Seaport (where you'll go for the Mystic Flag Ceremony at the end of July). If you blink, you'll miss it. Trust me, on the outside it looks like a dump that maybe holds 10 people. But on the inside (or on the back yard close to the water) you'll find incredible food. Did I mention it was small? I doubt you've ever been to a restaurant this small before.
Chances are, you're going to wait in line for both places. To get a table at SITC, you need to go inside and give them your name. At Kitchen Little you write your name on a white board outside.
Both places are worth the wait.
NOTE - don't go on R-Day, you won't have time.
Won't tempt fate on R-Day....do NOT want to be late. Doubt son would appreciate it anyway. Will stick to something local...like the hotel dining room.
Or Mc'D's.....kid loves sausage mcmuffins, and I guess he won't be seeing them again anytime soon!
We are also staying at the Hilton Garden Inn.
