Sig to produce new military sidearm for all branches including USCG

I have Hollow Points in the 38 but I rely on hydrostatic shock in the 1911 or at least six to the center of mass.

They are good pistols. I prefer the 229 Legion, but the 320 is fine.
I was taught that if you had to resort to your pistol - you were in a world of hurt - so I can't get too excited about what they end up with.
Also - if you find yourself in a fight with a pistol - you didn't plan your mission properly.

Ba dum bump!

@LineInTheSand is here all week folks !
Try the veal, and don't forget to tip your wait staff ! :)

Had a ROTC instructor that hated the M16 when it first came out and loved the M1. He always said if you ran out of clips you could always beat him to death with the M1.

The M16 is more than capable of shooting through the ace of spades at 300 meters.

If you want to shoot that ace of spades being held by a guy on the other side of a concrete block wall, the M1 is still the one to use!

Never hide behind a tree if your enemy has an M1. If there are leaves in the way the M16 may have a problem.

I'm still waiting for someone to tackle the use of "clips" here!

US 30. caliber, clip fed, gas operated, semi automatic, shoulder weapon. I used to have the M1 thumb to prove it. It was a b***h at inspection.

I own a beautiful M1 Garand I bought from CMP. Refinished the stock with boiled linseed oil, re-parkerized the barrel and installed a match trigger. Love shooting it but sometimes hard to find M2 ball ammo that isn’t super expensive...

Have my name on the CMP e-mail list when they finally put the 1911’s up for public sale and am hopeful the surplus M1’s from South Korea will make their way to CMP....now that there has been a change in administration. Would like to buy two more as commissioning gifts for my soon to be Ensign son’s...:)

Back on subject.
I like the 1911. I have several of them. None of them are chambered for 9MM (the horror!), but I have several 9MM pistols.
It wasn't until recently when I bought an M11-A1 (P228) for my DS, that I got into Sig Sauer. I never had a Sig before this one.
I always thought they were "too bulky", but the stocks on the P228 are extremely thin, and it feels good. Really good.

Sigs are woefully overpriced (in my opinion) but I can see why the Government would steer their way.
They are excellent pistols. My DS has nearly 2,000 rounds through his, without a failure of any kind.
That particular pistol seems to put the holes in the paper for you.

Sure, I would prefer if they all carried the 1911 (because they still make my heart go pitter-patter) but I understand the utility in a double-stack SA/DA 9mm, over an SA 7-shot.

And if the opponent is using a bolt action rifle he doesn't stand a chance against the ability to feed in another.

some Spec Op units still use the M1911 for its knockdown power, its certainly my preferred weapon

I carried a P226 for 20 years... easily the best weapon I have ever owned.
