Failed PFA

So I failed my PFA(Physical Fitness Assessment) this semester for AFROTC. My first semester I passed with an 80 something. This semester though I haven't had as much time to workout as I would like and I failed the PFA by like 6 pushups, only doing like 27 when min was 33 or something. Now I gotta retake the entire thing.

I'm gonna do my best to pass this time and probably will. Being a really concerned individual about my future though if I was to hypothetically fail a 2nd time would I need to be worried. I'm only a first year cadet Freshmen AS100 and I don't have a scholarship nor am I looking for one. Should I be worried?

I read on the AFROTC website that being a freshmen non scholarship cadet I only need attempt, not pass the PFA. That still true?

Any help to console my worried self would be highly appreciated.

Being worried and fearful is sometimes the best motivator. Get the workouts in. Pass the PFA.

You need to realize that this is also a moment where the cadre's eyes are on you. Whether or not you need to pass as a non-contracted cadet should not be a factor in your motivation. What should be your motivation is next year when you are up for SFT aka LEAD your PFA and your CoCs ranking will make up a huge chunk of your score. Thus, that PFA is going to be a part of your life for the next few years. Additionally the CoC might rank you lower because if he/she has to choose between you and another cadet with the same major and the same gpa, but they have a 97 on the PFA and you have an 87, who do you think they will rank higher.

Sorry if this upsets you, but I think you need to understand that although the ADAF considers 18 holes of golf carrying your clubs as PT, AFROTC does not.

Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays - right before bed - do your push-ups. Try doing 3 sets of 10 push-ups at first and later increase, e.g., 3 sets of 15. I would do crunches in between push-up sets for a break. Focus on technique - all the way down and all the way up.

Good Luck!
