I'm applying for USMA this upcoming year and submitted an application for vice presidential nomination around 2 weeks ago. I did not received any confirmation email or anything. How will I know if my application was received? Will there be an update to my portal?

Are you service connected? Are you sure it wasn't the Presidential nomination you applied for? Vice Presidential is very hard to get.

I'm sure he meant the VP nom. Everyone is eligible for that one. Not so for the Presidential. You're correct that the odds are long, nevertheless I know folks who got in on a VP nom. If they want you, they will make it happen, since it's the academies that truly make the selections from the VP nom list. All can apply, few will be chosen.

I'm not service connected and yes it was vice president. I'm a junior right now so I'm applying for next year. I was just wondering if there would be some sort of confirmation that my application was received.

I'm surprised you are even able to submit it for next year already. It seems to early in the cycle for your portal to even be opened. My DS got a confirmation of the VP nomination submission very late in the 2nd semester of his Senior year. He has submitted it in August of his Senior year.

The VP NOM application window runs from March 1 though January 31 of the year preceding entrance to the SA (per the application website below). Website basically indicates the SA makes the determination of who gets these NOM's.

Good to know! I was thinking it wouldn't make sense for them to submit it, if the official candidate files weren't even open, yet, to attach the nomination request to. Way to get a jump on your packet West Point Applicant '19.

Ah ok. Presidential is only if you are service connected. Just means you can compete in the service connected category. Didn't realize everyone could apply for VP. I think I learn something new everyday on here.

But the VP is only good for USMA, USNA, and USAFA...doesn't do anything for USMMA...

Excellent point, which confirms the USMMA nom differences. Cool thing - any Rep in the state, any District, as long as the candidate lives in that state. So, no nom from your own District rep? Get on the phone and start calling the other Reps. But, no VP, Presidential, MOH, etc.

I think this is good info for those just startyo g the journey.
