Just checking, but all that is actually required for the VP nom are the two sheets that can be printed out online?

Thanks, just making sure I'm not missing anything before I send it off.

I was under the impression that one had to write a letter to the Vice President before sending in the application...if you look at the first page in the application packet it says

In order to be entered into competition for a Vice Presidential nomination, applicants must write personally to the Vice President during the application period of March 1 to October 31 preceding the year of entrance to the academies. Applications postmarked before March 1 or after October 31 will not be considered.

Does that mean one has to write a letter? Or is the application enough?

yes. you do have to send in a letter containing your pertinent information like DOB, SSN, parent's names, school attending, order of precedence (if applying to more than one SA), and other stuff. the information that you need to have in the letter can be found on google through a senator's website ("VP nomination") or through the Vice President's website. once you send it in, they'll send you a receipt that says they received your app. and they will consider you for the nom. best of luck!

So you don't have to write like a letter or an essay saying why you want to attend one of the academies?

when i did it last year, you just need a letter with the pertinent information and whatever they have on the website. i didn't have to write an essay or anything, but they might have changed it. then again, think about how many people apply for the VP nom. would they really want to read that many essays? i think they leave that up to your MOC's if THEY require an essay with an application.

If you are applying to more than one SA, do you need to send a separate letter for each academy to the VP's office, or can you just send the one with the order in which you ranked your preferences for the SAs?

Just the one.
