If an appointee goes to the appointee tour by themselves is there a service that will provide a ride to and from The Academy?

Nothing provided by USAFA. Depending on the airport, rides could range from $20 to $60

There is a shuttle from the Denver and the Colorado Springs airport to the Academy hotel among other stops. The hotel is just outside the south gate(have to enter at the north gate). Your DS/DD could then catch a yellow cab to the academy( verify with usafa, only one cab company has permission to enter). As well there will be many others appointees and families staying at that hotel ie potential ride to the academy.

We stayed at this hotel our first trip to the springs which was DS's appointee tour. Nice hotel with a chef to custom make your eggs, complimentary breakfast. There is also a restaurant in the lobby to eat supper. Reserve directly with the hotel gave free meal ticket instead of a travel website.

You could check other hotels on the shuttle list and figure out which one would have the cheapest cab fare.

There should be a Class of 2022 facebook page. Join the page and ask any of the parents. I found out last year that a lot of the parents are will to help out. Don't hurt to ask.

I've mentioned this before, but if anyone is doing an appointee tour (or even just visiting the Academy, for that matter), feel free to PM me if you would like me to escort you around. I can't guarantee 100% availability, but I have done this for multiple SAF'ers so far and it's always fun to meet people. Plus I can take you inside the cadet area, which most of the time you can't do unless you're on an official Admissions tour. ;)

Are you available April 9th in the morning? Doing escorted tour in the afternoon. Have appointment but want to see more of the academy. Thank you

Hi 757, I have morning classes so I probably won't be around then, but feel free to PM me if you'd be interested in meeting up later (you'll need 5 posts before you can PM). Regardless, I hope you have a great time on your visit!

Hi wildblueyonder, I recently was appointed to the USAFA Prep School. We bought tickets to fly out during our Spring Break next week. I attempted to sign my family up for the appointee tour on April 19th, and unfortunately it is not listed as an option anymore. I am assuming this means it is full. I emailed my admissions counselor about any other options or openings. I am waiting on a response but in the meantime I saw your post. If there aren't any openings, would you be available to give my family a tour? I attempted to PM you but it did not give me the option. I would appreciate any help or advice.

You need a total of 5 messages to pm someone, just reply to this or post 3 times then you can PM him. also, to tag someone use it like twitter with @(insertusername). Aditionally the prep school is in a different part of USAFA from the actual Cadet area.

@4BravoX1 @wildblueyonder Thank you! I understand the prep school is in a different area and I have already contacted them about a tour. I am waiting to hear back from them. My admissions counselor just responded and said there are no tours until the 22nd. I'm going to post this two more times and PM @wildblueyonder about a tour next week! Thank you so much!

Hi Falcon. Short answer is yes, potentially (depending on how our two schedules do or do not coincide). Shoot me a message and I'll see what I can do.

Yes sir! Thank you! I will PM you as soon as I find out my tour time on April 18th! We are flying from South Carolina, so this will be a true blessing!

Love your YouTube videos

My DS received his appointment offer this morning. I'll try to keep my ask succinct here:

We had decided to hold off on doing a tour until we received word. The USAFA wants a decision on May 1st, however there are no dates open for April guided tours. As other people here have mentioned, I too, reached out the USAFA counselor for the region this morning to ask if any space April 26 or April 29. We can fly on over - relatively short flight. Earliest opening is May3rd. Was really hoping to get a guided type of tour....don't necessarily need a Q&A session per se...Any advice? I know there is a self guided tour, but not sure this would be helpful?
