Hi all,
I've looked around this forum for updated info on experiences, pros/cons, SA appointment success rates for sponsored preppers, etc; for either NMMI or Greystone. The info I've found is dated. Would anyone please share some updated status? Thanks.
Our DD is attending Greystone Academy Prep this year where she has earned and accepted an appointment for the USNA Class of 2022. Our DD was a USNA re-applicant and was not sponsored (no Foundation Scholarship).
The vast majority of the non-sponsored students at Greystone this year have successfully earned appointments to at least one of the Federal Service Academies, with a roughly equal number of appointments to USNA, USMA, USAFA, and USMMA. As of early April, I have only seen one appointment to the USCGA announced.
According to our DD, the Foundation students at Greystone this year are all doing well. There are at least 4 Navy Foundation students. I have not yet seen any announcements of appointments for the Foundation students, but my understanding is that their appointments are confirmed or finalized later in the Spring. My impression is that it would be considered very unusual at Greystone for one of the Foundation students not to earn their appointment.
A former Navy Foundation student from our Congressional District who attended Greystone and then went on to USNA ‘2020 was the first one to recommended GS to us. That recommendation proved very valuable for our family.
We have been very impressed with the program at Greystone Prep and we would recommend that any family considering a University level Academy Prep Program take a serious look into Greystone. GS was a good fit for us, but do your homework, there are differences between the academy prep programs. Only your family can determine which is the best fit for your son or daughter.
