Received my BFE today, in it there is a sheet to acknowledge acceptance of the orders that has to be returned in 48 hours after receipt of the letter. Here's my dilemma, I was waitlisted at USNA and I am still waiting to hear back(USNA is my first choice), by acknowledging that I accept my orders does it mean that I have to attend USMMA and cannot still turn my appointment down if I get one to USNA?

Thanks in advance.

Go ahead and accept your USMMA appointment. If USNA comes through, just contact USMMA admissions and let them know you won't be attending. My 2020 DS's first choice was USNA; however, after his first trimester at USMMA, he said he knew he was in the right place. With all the options USMMA affords at graduation, there's a good chance you can end up with a commission in the US Navy, if that's the path you choose.

They can't MAKE you attend, even if you accept the appointment. They aren't going to grab you out of USNA or any other college you are attending to make you go to USMMA.

Exactly. I was shooting for the USAFA, but ended up at KP and I KNOW that I would not have been happy with an Air Force career. . .or at least not as happy with how mine has turned out over the last 40 years or so. . .
