I’m currently a sophomore at a college predatory high school. My uncle and dad both graduated from Navy, and it has always been in the back of mind as something I might want to do. Around this time last year I decided to pursue this possibility more seriously academically and through leadership roles. Without much studying last year I got a 3.7, but this year with a lot more motivation I have brought it up to a 4.1 in all honors and APs. I’m a captain starting varsity goalkeeper for soccer. I just applied for National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. I’m also a member of a club in school that collects donation money every Friday. Last summer I started my own charity that collects cleats and other sports equipment from athletes at my school and I bring them to organizations that can distribute them to less fortunate children. I’m on very good terms with faculty and teachers at my school. I think I have the right idea about quality not quantity for leadership roles and extra curriculars. If anyone could shed some light, I’m very curious about the recruitment process for Navy athletics and specifically soccer. However more realistically, I am also wondering what more I could be doing for standard appointment.
Thanks

Continue what you're doing and score well on standardized tests. Shooting a polite email next year to coach may also get you a CVW with the team.

You can search back on many older threads that discuss being recruited for a sport. If you are the star player on a nationally ranked team, the coaches from various colleges will already be looking to contact you. Being recruited for an SA can mean a wide range of things and is no guarantee on getting an appointment.

With all due respect, it is NOT "prepatory" OR "predatory" (although at least predatory is a real word).

PREPARATORY
pre·par·a·to·ry
prəˈperəˌtôrē/
adjective
  1. serving as or carrying out preparation for a task or undertaking.
    "more preparatory work is needed"
synonyms: preliminary, initial, introductory, prefatory, opening, preparative, precursory
    "preparatory work"

Reach out to coach ASAP. There usually are soccer camps at USNA and when my DD went she fell in love with the place and the people. My DD was also a goalie, a captain on her high school team as a 10th grader, and also was starting goalie for a top 50 in the country travel team. However when my DD went there the summer before junior year they had committed a Goalie her year 2 weeks earlier and basically told her she would have to get in on her own. Believe me that was a long ride home, but she put her mind to doing all the right things (took the SAT 5-6 times to get math >700) and got appointed. I am sure even if not being recruited the high level varsity sport and captainship will help your application. She was the last walk-on cut her plebe summer but has done rugby, endurance club, and club soccer and loves the freedom not playing a sport gives her. She went international as a 2C for a semester. She absolutely loves the place, has amazing friends from all over the country, and has traveled all over the world just in her first 3 years. Best of luck!!!

I remember last millennium or whenever it was when the red underline appeared for misspellings. As a practitioner of Southern English, I was the happiest of campers.
