Because of the changing boot color standard to match the adoption of OCPs, should those of us 2023 hopefuls looking to get used to boots, should we buy sage green or the new color?

The appointee packet indicates sage green. The uniform change is not authorized until October 1 of this year. The uniform change will be phased in over 2-1/2 years. So, from what I am hearing on other parent groups, it is likely that ABUs (therefore, sage green boots) will be grandfathered in for the class of 2022. Of course, they could surprise us all and issue OCPs to this year's basic cadets.

You could also wait to I Day when they'll issue them to you. DD had no problems with hers (which she got that day) but you know your feet. Lots of threads on the subject. Congrats & good luck!

Yeah, I have flat and wide feet, so I definitely need to find out how boots will fit me. Thanks, though!

Hey,

I just finished my prep school year, and my AMT had told me that USAFA will not being switching to OCP until around the time it is completely mandatory for the entire AF to change.

01OCT19 OCPs will be SI in BMT, OCS, and AFROTC, ‘23 obviously won’t make that date, so it makes sense for ‘24 to be issued OCPs right?

Also have heard ABUs will be grandfathered in past the mandatory wear date (01APR21) for USAFA cadets issued them, any chance you can validate that rumor?
