DS is on hold for the USMMA class of 2022 and being offered a sponsored prep spot to the Marion Military Institute (MMI), just wondering how many other future King Pointer's out there may be joining him at MMI...

My DS will be a USMMA sponsored prep to NMMI. They will join each other next fall.

So your DS will be at NMMI (New Mexico) Military Institute? Ours will be at MMI (Marion Military Institute) in Alabama... Darn! I was hoping to find another sponsored prep at Marion for the USMMA but no luck so far... Good luck to your son at NMMI though, I hear it's a great school.

My DD is USMMA sponsored prep starting at MMI this fall.

Great! At least we know there's two! We are in VA, what state are you in? And have they contacted you with any information about MMI as far as enrollment etc?

Yes, offer came early April. Letter suggested applying to MMI and accepting the sponsorship before May 1. We did all that and submitted required forms to MMI. They are very easy to work with, very responsive and take docs as scans via email.

We are in NC.

I tried to private message you but I don't think you have that feature yet (you have to have posted 8 or 9 times for the feature to show up) Anyway, thank you for the info. I guess we better get started on the paperwork.

Just go to the MMI website at http://marionmilitary.edu and click on the admissions tab. As a sponsored prep he'll be automatically accepted, but we do have paperwork required by the state and Alabama Community College System (vaccination records, transcripts, etc.). Don't worry about registering for classes-he'll be placed in the curriculum set by MMA.

Physicsguru, thank you for the information. DS will get started on the app and other required paperwork this weekend. Also, I called and spoke to Susanna Barnes at MMI and she was was very helpful and full of information. She is putting us in contact with the enrollment counselor. Though our DS is disappointed not getting a direct appointment to USMMA, we are very excited about MMI!

@Undecided2023 - are you going for one of the other SAs? which one and what state are you from? DS is hoping to meet others before he reports later this summer... we're in VA.

Yes Im being recruited for westpoint, coastguard, and navy but the instructor would like us to apply to 3 other academies so im a bit undecided but im from georgia

My DS is USAFA prep going to MMI. We received info that there were 10 total for AFA prep.

Anyone knows of laptop needed? Just don’t know if course of study requires one or not. Or having laptop without connection to school Ethernet makes it worthless to have...

Physics, Chemistry, and Math all use online homework sites, and English requires papers to be turned in electronically as well as printed. If you have a computer, bring it. It doesn't have to be top of the line, but should be able to run web based software.

If you haven't purchased one yet, don't go overboard. A Chromebook or a moderate Windows PC ($500-800) is sufficient. Remember, when you get to MMA you'll have to either purchase a computer there, or format and reconfigure your computer to be compatible with the campus network.

My DS is heading NMMI as a sponsored Prep for USMMA.
We are in Northeast PA. He will have to adjust to some heat!
He also will be playing football for the Class of 2023 is all goes according to his plan.

Is there an ATM on campus? Or a bank? What bank brands in town? Is Wells Fargo there? How best to provide cash to a cadet?
