For the incoming class of 2022, you have quite a large class. This puts the academy at 97% capacity, not including those who hold over from sea. If you do not pass the BCA on day zero of indoc, word is immediately sent to the commandants office for dissmisal or setback. Not passing the first PRT and especially the BCA puts you at high risk of dismissal especially for the class of 2022. Good luck

Source... other than the KP rumor mill? Isn't 97% capacity a good thing considering the fact that people usually drop pretty quickly during indoc....

I suspect this has more to do with the medical issues from last year.

This year will be a bit different. The first day of INDOC is referred to as zero day. On that day you will have your height and weight measured. If you are WAY over standard (with no hope of meeting standard anytime soon) you will have a one-on-one sit down with the superintendent to discuss disenrollment. The first PRT will be day one of INDOC (technically your second day there).

I think kp beyond is probably correct that last years medical has changed things. And it should.

Definitely need to have all plebe candidates in good shape and within weight and height guidelines from here on out. Glad to hear they're taking steps to help prevent medical crises...

Based upon conversations with our own DS (2021) and a few of his classmates, Indoc is tough, but certainly not impossible. Get in shape physically, and prepare yourself mentally and you'll get through it. Plebe candidates who report on Zero Day overweight or out of shape probably won't last long. It's designed to weed out those who don't have the stamina or determination to make it through KP's rigorous schedule. Strictly adhering to the requirements will prevent a repeat of last year's Indoc crisis.

What was last year’s Indoc crisis?

One of my favorite sets of standing orders starts out simply: "EVERYTHING IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY."

The parents on SAF can't really grasp it, but what makes KP different is that when you get out you're standing your own watch on day one, and you really are responsible for everything. If you can't figure out how to pass the PRT then like... this might not me the place for you.

I'm a shmoo and I can do it, so you can too!

What was last year’s Indoc crisis?

Very very large plebe fell out from heat stroke, coma, kidney transplant, liver damage, the whole bit.

Liver transplant, kidney damage. He's doing well now but of course it was a life altering event for everyone. Very frightening. Make sure to warn your plebe candidates to stay well hydrated! There is a reason they all get Camelbacks. And, not to ignore heat warnings or their own body's signals that something is wrong...

We will be at capacity for the first few months or so because they are going to renovate First Company. Which means that all of first company will be living on the flight decks of fourth and fifth. And those two companies will be condensed to main and second decks of both buildings. And also some will be spread out into the other companies, i.e a few going to second and third company until complete. Practically everyone from every class will have a roommate until the renovations are done.

It appears that they are trying to not have a repeat of the new furniture situation that happened to fourth and fifth companies right after winter break this year.

Most if not all of the first classmen and the occasional second, third, or fourth classman have their own rooms.
