Good Morning,

It appears that there was a large influx of spam posted on the forum this morning, which we have since deleted. We have a number of systems in place to detect, block, and/or remove spam. However, as we continue to develop our tools, the spammers also continue to develop theirs. In this case, we have made several adjustments in an effort to catch more spam before it is posted to the forum.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

That was crazy! I pictured administrators getting up on a lazy Saturday morning g, grabbing their coffee and saying “here we go again [emoji849]”

Actually thought about what a labor of love administering this must be. I’m sure everyone has a real life, job, family, etc....

Much thanks for all the effort and dedication [emoji119]

What seems to happen is someone makes up a new profile and immediately starts posting their ads/spam....etc. Perhaps there should be a 1-2 day delay in when you create a profile vs. being allowed to post. Obviously, they get banned once the mods find their useless posts. It seems less likely that someone who has been an active participant for a week/month/year....etc. will suddenly start posting ads.

We appreciate the kind words; the moderators do a fantastic job. Our members and moderators are what make this such a great forum.

Thank you for the feedback and idea. We do have systems in place that are generally good at detecting new spammers. In order to further the forum missions and facilitate discussion, we don't plan to restrict poster for a period of time. However, we will continue to evaluate our detection methods. We are generally good at catching spammers before they are able to post to the forum. Unfortunately, those successes are by definition not visible.
