Are students allowed to stay on campus during Thanksgiving and Spring breaks? Just curious. DS will be a sponsored prep at NMMI and they are required to vacate the campus during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring breaks.

Yes, Mids may stay on campus Thanksgiving and Spring break. Not sure about Christmas. Delano is not open, but there is a refrigerator with some food stuff for on-site mids to choose from.

A more likely option, if getting back home isn't in the cards, is to go off to spend time at the home of one of his buddies. Happens a lot at other service academies and we even put up NROTC midshipmen when they were unable to get home.

On several occasions classmates who couldn't get home stayed at my parents house for breaks since I was a short train ride away from the Academy.

All good options. I'm not going to worry about it at this point but its always good to "be prepared." Thanks

I lived in CA at the time I was attending. I believe that the only time you HAVE to leave the grounds is during Christmas Break and summer. I spent most, if not all Thanksgivings at a roommate's or other classmate's house either on the Island or upstate.

We can stay on campus for all breaks except Christmas break. They clean the barracks / renovate during that time, so we’re not allowed to stay.

Weird question, I have saved up some money after working basically forty hours every week the past year and a half and I’m looking to travel abroad during one of my breaks at KP. Are you allowed to do this?

That is a weird question. Why not save your money and get paid to travel abroad during your sea year at Kings Point? One of the best perks of the academy! My DS got paid to visit 22 countries during sea year.

It's not the same coming to a new place working on a ship vis a vis going on a vacation. Definitely not the same, when you go out for a couple hours after work and come back early so you can get some sleep for work the next day.
