Hello,
I would like to know what my chances are for a 4 year ROTC scholarship for the Air Force. I just finished junior year. I have a cumulative 3.73 GPA as well as a 1380 SAT. I have been in ROTC sophomore and junior year, with the position of Squadron Commander. I did track for all of high school, as well as drill team junior year. I have taken and passed AP World History and am waiting for results on AP Chemistry and AP US History. I also plan to major in Chemistry.
Thanks!

Your stats look competitive, but you may want to consider applying to other branches as well. Army is the largest branch, so therefore they have more scholarships to offer.

DS’s stats were similar to yours. He applied to AFROTC and did not get offered any scholarship (he doesn’t think the interview went well). He did however get a 4 year AROTC scholarship. While he originally thought he wanted Air Force he is very happy with the Army and the different opportunities the larger of the services will offer. Agree that you should apply to other branches also and keep your options open.

@SulfuricEnvy My son applied last year. He had 1390 SAT, 3.75 unweighted GPA, very good extracurriculars and did not get an AFROTC scholarship. His interview lasted about 10 minutes and was obviously not very good.

He also applied for NROTC scholarship, had an excellent interview where the interviewer said it was one of the best he had ever had and that my son had "a very, very, very good chance of getting the scholarship". He received the NROTC scholarship to an out of state school and ultimately decided to stay in state and pursue the AF on our dime.

So, I took away from the experience that the interview can definitely make or break your chances. Hitting it off with and/or having a dud interviewer can be the difference.

I had similar stats and did not get one 3 years ago. However, I did do well my first semester of college with a 3.8 as an "EE" major (wasn't taking any EE classes besides maybe calculus if you count that) and was awarded a Type 7 after my first semester. If Air Force is what you really want, just try harder if you don't get it your first semester! ICSPs are more common now.

Even if you dont get a national AF Rotc scholarship, if you do well in college you can a 3 year (maybe 3.5 years) if you do well freshman year

What HUMEY said. My son started AFROTC right from the start, day 1 his freshman year of college. He immediately joined Honor Guard and would volunteer for events. During his first summer, he volunteered to help recruit for AFROTC at the college's orientation (something that he did NOT have to do until he was contracted) and he signed up for 4 sessions on top of it. Starting sophomore year, he was offered the commanders type 1 scholarship and contracted. He's a STEM major, so on a 5 year plan. We paid for college the first year, but his scholarship will cover the next 4, plus his housing stipend.

He just returned from field training 2 weeks ago, was in the top 3 of the MAX-1 class. Received his Prop & Wings pin and now is a POC :)
