I'm anxious about my chances since my GPA is low compared to everyone else. Do I have a chance for anything?

3.4 GPA, 1300 SAT, O3 at my NJROTC unit, Supply department head, platoon leader for 2 years (freshman and sophomore), varstiy drill team member, took AP US Government & got a 3 on the test, and did JV track for 1 year.

You have a shot. I would try to increase that SAT score and stick with track. You have 0% chance if your don't apply. Make sure you have backup plans B, C, D, E, etc.

Which ROTC, army?

I'd say you're missing a team sport as one glaring hole. Seems to me even riding the bench on a more 'team' sport like volleyball would help.

Air Force and Army are what i'm mainly looking at. but I just finished my junior year so it's probably too late for me to try and join a team sport.

Join Volleyball. You’ll enjoy it and it’s a great team sports. Season starts in the Fall. For some schools season practice late summer. Inquire before school shuts down. You’ll need team sports not only for Apps but for your personal growth working with others.

Team sports is different from JROTC and Scouting. It develops teamwork tactical skills collaboration competitiveness sacrifice team pride school pride fraternity and discipline. Many positive attributes can be realized.

Listen to Crew Dad - I'd figure out who the VB coach is and call them - don't take the first no as no maybe find some other league or sport.

Seems to me you absolutely MUST raise those test scores. Maybe take both the SAT and ACT every time it's offered for a while.

Good luck

Take the SAT over and over every point counts when they super score. Are you going to Boys State ? I hope so ! And a team sport where you can lead is important. my son rowed crew and ran XC. If you ever needed a team concept Crew is it.

AFROTC is different than AROTC when it comes to scholarships. They do not count your senior yr academics or ECs. The only thing you can update is your SAT. However, remember for AFROTC it is best sitting, not SUPERSCORE.
~ I would still not only keep taking the SAT, but also the ACT.

I have a general question based on the poster's picture: does having a tattoo visible above the neckline impact ROTC or academy acceptance? I don't know if that's a real tattoo, but it made me wonder.

Here is the 2014 updated Army tattoo policy:

Thanks. I like the use of the word "mutilation." But looking at the policy, if that is an actual tattoo on the neck, and the photo is of the poster, she'd be ineligible for the Army.

That is my understanding too. I doubt that the photo is one of the OP.
My DS knows a cadet who just commissioned who has two full sleeves on her arms (nothing on the neck, face or hands) and just received her first choice of aviation.

Those are expensive - something about a struggling college student allocating so much money to tattoos baffles me. Then again, she might have used the ROTC stipend.

When my son applied for NROTC, he was told that tattoos are an immediate disqualification.

Where in the world did your son hear this from?

Here is the rule from the NROTC website:
You must not have any body piercing or tattoos that violate Navy or Marine Corps policy.

Granted the Marines have a strict Tattoo (actually, the strictest) policy, but they DO allow tattoos! In fact, they recently eased up on the policy:
Here is an article on the changes:

And here is the actual Marine Corps policy:
