For USMA admission, do we only submit LoRs/Teacher Evaluations to nomination sources? Or do each teachers have to fill out 2 different LoRs/Teacher Evaluations to USMA AND Nomination Sources? (meaning, would one teacher need to write different letters of recommendation (one for nomination sources and one for USMA)?) Also, for nomination source recommendation, can teachers submit same recommendation letter for all the nomination sources?

And since the application window hasn't opened yet, do I need to hand in teachers specific USMA LoR form/Teacher Evaluation form (If LoRs and Teacher Evaluation is required)?

Also, how many LoRs/Teacher Evaluations will each teachers would essentially be submitting (summing up ones we send to Nomination sources and USMA)?

Sorry... I want to make sure that I get all the information on time (without being confused during application time) before the summer ends..

Thank you so much!

The nomination recommendations are entirely independent of the four academy teacher evaluations. In my experience, all of my MOCs asked for two written recommendations. You can have the same teachers write these and use their same recommendations, unless they feel some change would be beneficial for one MOC vs another.

You will also have the requirement of four teacher evaluations on the candidate portal. These are not long essays on their part. You will choose a math, science, English, and PE teacher to receive an email from the academy. They will be asked to rank you on certain attributes from a 1 to a 5. There is an additional comments section that can choose to utilize as well. So the 2 teachers who wrote your nomination recommendations can also be used for your academy teacher evaluations, but the processes are completely separate, and you will also need two additional evaluations.

Thank you so much for your response!

Your answer clarified the nomination information (and definitely clarified my confusion as well)!

Again, thank you for your answer!

Have you looked at the nomination request forms from your members of congress? When my DD was completing hers, they were all somewhat different in terms of how many letters of recommendation they required and whether or not my daughter could see them. Good luck.

What if you’ve never had a PE teacher? My school substitutes PE credits with varsity sports so I never had to take a PE class...

Well, the instructions explicitly said to use a gym coach- not a sports coach. But I am sure that your situation is not uncommon and they will instruct you to use a sports coach or someone of the sort. On the portal their title is "Physical Ed." So I would recommend emailing your RC to clarify who they would like to fill out your phys ed evaluation, unless of course the instructions provide for your situation and I have forgotten.

And to correct my last post: the science teacher for the evaluation must be specifically chemistry or physics only.

Definitely heed KYParent's advice and go look on your MOCs' websites to ascertain their exact nomination recommendation requirements. They were the same for my 3, but they they can handle it in any ways that they see fit so go check it out.

I was in the same situation as you. Your USMA admissions counselor will tell you who they want to fill out this evaluation if you just email them and ask. My counselor gave me this order of preference: 1. PE teacher that had the you in class; 2. CFA administrator; 3. Fitness activity course instructor; 4. PE teacher that did not have you in their class (with input from coaches); 5. Teacher who will not complete one of the other SOEs (with input from coaches).

Ultimately my school athletic director filled out my evaluation for me, but I had a bit of a unique situation.

Really don't be hesitant to email your counselor with questions. They are one of your best resources. I was in almost constant communication with my counselor, and I think it made a huge difference. He helped me when a couple of my teachers were having trouble accessing the evaluation portals, when he wanted more information on a particular aspect of my application, to remind me of things I still needed to submit, and to remind me to watch Army-Navy!

So the science teacher Rec. can only be chemistry or physics? I took chemistry 10th grade, anatomy 11th, and am taking physics 12th grade. I know that they only want 11th and 12th grade teachers so do I ask my upcoming physics teacher who doesn’t know me well or can I do my 11th grade Anatomy teacher?

SOE's may be from any applicable teacher grades 9-12. For the science teacher they are extremely firm on chemistry or physics. You will need to request one from your 10th grade chemistry teacher unless you feel as though your relationship with your physics teacher is strong enough in the beginning of next year to request it from them.

My son had his wrestling coach compete the requirement - no issue.
