I may be out of place but I feel the need to respond here. This maybe a legitimate post, but DO NOT share your personal info especially if you are going to let people know your significant other is away. You could be an easy target of opportunity or even criminal intent. Don’t do it even if it is from a regular poster because you never know who/who else may get your info, let alone someone who just made an account today!

This is genuine, I’ve looked all over the web, I can’t find anything related to this topic but I’ve seen in past years that significant others have made group chats and what not, how do I find those or what is a better what to make them?

I would end the relationship. KP is almost a full year long grind every year for 4 years. I got home again for awhile after a solid year. It's not only time but all of your energy is sort of in KP work. Why would you want a long distance or basically virtual boyfriend because he won't be able to see you with any kind of regularity over the next 4 years... If he makes it.

Opinions differ on this topic. Some relationships do last through four years at Kings Point. It depends on the maturity and commitment of both people. The first year is the hardest, but if you make it through plebe year, it gets easier. If you live close you will be able to attend lots of events with your Kings Pointer. Many girlfriends attend Parents Weekend with the family. Then there is Winter Ball which is always lovely. And Ring Dance is really special if you have someone to share it with. Many weddings happen right after graduation, some with long-time girlfriends or boyfriends, so it is definitely possible to keep a long distance relationship alive. I agree that having a support group is a good idea. There will be times when you will be frustrated with the lack of communication from your Kings Pointer, and having someone to share that with can help get you through the difficult times. Good luck!

Where can I find that support group with other significant others?

It just depends on the individuals. I know at 18, when I went it, I was certainly not ready for a full on relationship or the distractions that it would have kept my focus. But, hell, I didn't even get married my first time until I was 28. . . .

Last year there was a closed group on Facebook. You might try creating one yourself. I would have your boyfriends parents put it out there on the Parents of 2022 page. Your boyfriend might also be able to put the word out on the Class of 2022 page after indoc is over.

Thank you so much!

There is the 1% club, those relationships that stand the test of time at KP. The GF thing has positives and negatives. From a negative side, the GF can keep you from expanding your universe of friends, etc., because of a desire to stay true to her, avoid situations, etc. The GF can also be a distraction. From a positive side, the GF can be the light at the end of the tunnel, kind of like Kelly Frears to Chuck Noland. Whatever it is, you can best help your man by staying positive. A couple years ago, there was a couple, he a plebe/candidate at KP she at a large Midwestern university. His best friend was at the large Midwestern university. He was missing her, and she was not helping it by apparently saying he needs to come to school with her. He ended up leaving about mid year I think, to go to the large Midwestern university, and, oops, found that his undying love for the GF was not quite shared, as the GF had her own version of undying love for some, involving the best friend......

This is the hard truth. I had many classmates enter with girlfriends, but only one still had the same one at graduation.

Right...especially if your girlfriend is going to a big state college, just forget it, not even worth thinking about.

I know of two different weddings that took place the weekend after graduation this year. I know of two others who had girlfriends the entire time they were at the academy and they went to the ring dance...with weddings probably in he near future. Is it hard - yes to both school and having a long distance relationship. KPMOM2013 is 100% correct...it is hard but possible...best of luck to you and the plebe candidate.

Can plebes bring boyfriends from out of state for Winter Ball? I’m not familiar with rules on people visiting.

Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean by "Winter Ball"? Do you perhaps mean the All Academies Winter Ball which is typically held during winter break?
