So we are about THREE DAYS away from R-Day for the class of 2013 and I am getting nervous, anxious, and excited all at once! I just wanted to gather any last minute advice from parents, cadets, alumni, etc. I finished packing today and I am pretty much ready to go! So, is there any last minute advice that anyone wants to share? Also, I was wondering what attire would be acceptable for R-Day? I was thinking a shirt, shorts, and my running shoes but I do not want to be underdressed. Thanks and good luck to my fellow shipmates!

God Speed to the SWABS of 2013.

R-Day preps

T&F, you are ready! R-day attire, shirt, shorts, running shoes, will work out fine. Check your list again, have all your paperwork in order (don't forget your passport) and get everything in the backpack. Pack only what's on the list, travel light and most of all, keep a good attitude.
Your tagline says it all. Congrats to you, you've worked hard to get to this point, your journey will take you far and be well-worth the trip. You,and your shipmates, are about to embark on the greatest adventure now. It will be tough, but always, always believe in yourself.

Good luck son!! Our thoughts and prayers will be with you and all the new swabs Class of 2013.

Only three days left. Can wait. It actually just hit me as I was driving home from the movies with my friends that I know I can do this. And I like your quote T&F "when you dont think you can, hold on". We all can do this. WE all can make it and become officers in the greatest seagoing service in the world. Cant wait to see yall on June 29 and good luck to everyone at every academy.

Go BEARS! Beat KP!

NIce pics objee. To address one of your questions, the outfit you mention is fine. I look back at old pictures from my son's r-day in 2005 and those were the kind of clothes he and others were wearing. Good luck! I have a good feeling about all of you.

Great Pictures

Those pictures have us excited! We leave tomorrow AM to drive up to CT! The pictures drew out a smile from my future Swab, especially the 2013 ball cap!!! Objee, will you also be wearing a red ribbon so we can know who you are? (probably not regulation on a uniform, huh:smile:)

Is this a trick question...why wouldn't you wear your watch?

See everybody on Monday!

No trick...just thought I remembered someone saying the watch got taken away by cadre. Wayyyy back in the recesses of my memory, so maybe I am just making it up.

Anyhoo...he will wear it. That's what he had decided to do anyway. I am just a worrier. Shocking, I know....

When my brother went to USAFA back in '81, he boarded the plane leaving from Harrisburg carrying a small blue bag of toiletries and wearing the clothes on his back and sporting his Mickey Mouse watch. Both he and Mickey survived.

Bring a watch, but it will most likely be taken up. You WILL want that watch on EAGLE.

Why take a watch away? Swabs have a tendency to "Count down" before it's time to wake up. Some even set their alarms. Sleep until the cadre tell you to wake up.

In the past watches were taken away (when I was a swab and when I was a cadre), but things change. Bring it either way, they'll tell you what to do with it after that.
