Hi!
My son is applying to TAMU specifically to join their excellent Corps of Cadets program. He is also applying for an Army ROTC scholarship.

Do you have to have been in high school ROTC to have any chance of getting either of the above?
We heard that he had no chance of getting into TAMU's Corps of Cadets without high school ROTC.

He did not do ROTC in high school because it was AF (dad and grandpa are Army vets and he's Army all the way) and the school could never find a way to fit it into his schedule. He is in baseball and a special magnet program within the school whose schedules did not align with the schools ROTC schedule. He chose baseball and the magnet rather than ROTC.

I'd appreciate any guidance.

Majority of the Cadets in the corps have zero JROTC experience from high school, and I have many friends with the AROTC scholarship that didn’t do JROTC. To be in the Corps of Cadets at TAMU, the only requirement is to be accepted to TAMU. After that, you check a box and you’re in the corps! I’d be glad to help you with any more questions regarding applying to TAMU, I just finished the process this year and head off to the Corps of Cadets TOMORROW! Always open to any messages if you have them. Best wishes with both your applications! Give it all you got!

Thank you so much for your encouraging words! Good luck to you!

EPTexasMom If your son is all Army motivated, have him apply for the Army ROTC scholarship and do the corps spend a night trip with Company B-2. I am a current army scholarship contract sophomore cadet in B-2 and never did any jrotc in high school. Check out our Facebook Company B-2, Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and Instagram (@b2patriots) and the Texas A&M Army ROTC program on Instagram (@tamuarmyrotc) for more information on our identity and mission. We have the most Army ROTC leadership for the Warrior Training Battalion, Rudder's Rangers Company, Ranger Challenge Team, and Army Marksmanship Unit at Texas A&M. We also have earned the highest GPA out of 46 Corps Units in the past two semesters, the highest PT scores, and the highest commissioning rate at above 95% (* we are an all-male corps unit). Gig 'Em & Beat Navy!

DS has as also applied to Texas A&M Galveston, he also checked the box to participate in ROTC. We are planning a trip in March to visit the campus, who would he contact for the over night visit? He has scheduled a campus tour.
Thank you in advance for any information.
