2023 hopeful here, I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into what actually happens after I submit the online application. On the USMMA website they mention an Academic Information Request, School Official Evaluations, and a Biographical Essay. Does this mean the the entire online application is Part 1 and there is still much more to fill out? It certainly seems to me like the online application is really short.

After you finish the first part you gain access to the rest of the application where you submit the rest of the information and submit your essay.

@MReed, my DS finished the part of the application that has the essay in it. He said it’s been sent. He can’t add or delete anymore. He can’t even send any of the uploads forms. Is that how it’s supposed to be? So what is next after that? Is it ok if I call the academy instead of him. He really want to call and ask if his profile is up to date. But he is in school from 7:30am to 6:30pm. Football season practices n game. He called admission during the summer 2-3x... it seems nothing was address. We will have a meeting with our areas MMA representatives as soon as he is available. Is it normal to not to hear anything from the academy? Thx for your help!

I'm sorry I can't answer your application specific questions because the process seems to change a bit from year to year. But I can tell you the no, you should not call on his behalf. It will not look good if you do. I understand how busy he us. Is he able to make a call at lunch from his counselor's office or after school before practice? My DD was at school from 7 am until 9 pm on most days during her 10-month long dance team season. She used email for her admissions questions and always received a prompt response. She tried calling several times, but finally figured out that email worked best on both ends. The application process requires patience and tenacity, but it is all worth it when you get that offer of admission.

My DS had a terrible time with the application process last year. His portal would show nothing had been received, but when he contacted admissions, they had everything he had sent. He was also not able to call during normal business hours, so he would email them at night, and he almost always had a reply the next day. This was our experience from the start of his application all the way through his acceptance.

I don't know if I would go so far as to say that "those windows will be closing soon", when deadlines can still be anywhere from 30 to 60 days away. I just checked in my state, and the deadlines are September 14th, October 5th, and October 31st for my Senators and District Representative, and the VPOTUS deadline is January 31st.

I guess it depends on what "soon" means to you. I work with tight project schedules and 30 days sometimes seems like a lifetime. ;)
