Today was the official start of Rook Week 2018, and preparing for the 200th anniversary of the school's founding.
500 Rooks checked in today. Less than last year. Housing is an issue though, running out of room.
The school has raised almost $100M for improvement and endowments. The new cyber security building is complete. Return of classrooms being done to keep everything state of the art, as much as possible.

1) Rooks do your jobs just like your parents did unfailingly to get you here.
2) Rooks try your best and we will too
3) Parents, you're not done parenting yet, so don't sign out.
4) Parents, when they call home crying and ready to come home - say you love them and they just need rest - and hang up the phone.
5) it's gonna be the hardest thing of their lives ever, so don't give up.
DS found one of his room mates through social media, the other they couldn't find in advance... hoping he showed!
The alumni association seems as strong as the SAs. Very cool to see the class of 1972 helping out so much.
As with every tradition, things are changing as they are analyzed for effectiveness and their pertinent nature. I applaud the school for removing things that don't help the process but can hinder. There are big changes coming to the entire Rook experience, in many ways returning to what worked in the past.
No tears from me, Pride and excitement! DS will be busy with NROTC, 19 credits, the honors program, eagle scout association, normal Rook duties, designing an exhibit for the museum, and designing an online safety course to teach at local elementary schools. His professors have been great already pointing him towards new opportunities he wasn't aware of and are encouraging him on time management and to stay away from his room as much as possible. Lol
Happy to chat with any parents or future rooks.
