Female Marine kicked for Fraternization

This statement was in the Military.com article which is more informative, "Cruz was accused of adultery, larceny and fraternization, he said."

I'm interested to know more about the larceny charge and why the government allowed her to plead only to the fraternization charge.

The CG is still to decide if she gets an OTH discharge.

If she's going to be put out it's probably not worth the effort and expense to pursue the larceny charge - get rid of her and move on - just a guess but was was pretty common back in the late 80's and early 90's

One article I read was that they felt the larceny and adultery was a weak case, thus offered her the option to plead to fraternization and not risk going to court for all 3 charges. I am assuming because she did indeed take the plea she had the fear they could find her guilty on one or both of the other charges.

That's a joke, right?

Given that there is scattering of profoundly stupid and/or immoral people throughout society, I am not shocked to find those folks in the US military. What is shocking is the lack of consequences in slam dunk cases of malfeasance; across branches, up and down the ranks, regardless of the unit mission.

If this weren't the case, there would be no question of her discharge.

Putting aside what this Marine did,(not disputing the punishment at all) what is really disturbing are the comments that followed that article. Seems like general acceptance of women in the Marine Corps is still a ways away.

I guess I should have put that sentence in quotation marks or posted the entire article which included, "Whether Cruz will face an other-than-honorable discharge, which could affect her access to Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and civilian job opportunities, will be decided by Maj. Gen. David Furness, commanding general of 2nd Marine Division, Cochran said."

Seriously, some really dumb comments. They make it seem that the women either cant control themselves or that they are a bad influence on men. Men and women have been working together in the civilians world for many years and although there have been and will be issues, they have been able to work together pretty well.

According to Military.com, 70% of all USMC personnel in commanding officer roles who have been fired this year, have been let go because of being Misogynist jack-holes. I am paraphrasing, of course.

"The Marine Corps is continuing an aggressive top-down push to root out gender-based bias and a culture of disrespect."
It takes time, when you're dealing with fire-breathing, brainwashed, meat-eaters. It just does. Be patient.

The Corps don't do nothing fast, except taking lives!

My point remains the same.

@Devil Doc , I understood you were paraphrasing, not passing judgement.
