I have been debating if I should apply early action because I only get one shot. I was wondering if it is to late to apply early action eventhough the dead line didn't pass yet? Also, are interviews required or optional?

optional interviews

they review aps in order of receipt

Alaskan is correct. Interviews are mandatory starting this year. However, they may be face to face, telephone or Skype/Facetime.

And starting this year the "one shot" policy has been relaxed a bit, in that EA applications may be pushed back to be reconsidered with the regular group instead of being rejected or wait-listed immediately.

I submitted my application last week and cleared my PFE during GENESIS. I asked the same question for the early Action. I heard that early will only inform you by December where as the regular will be till April. Also if not selected for Early the application will be picked up in the normal process, no rejections. The interview will be for those where they need additional clarifications. The applications will be reviewed from October, however LOAs are being sent to the special ones.

I have completed my application for Early Action. I saw on my Bear's Den this morning that my application was ready to review. It is an exciting time and a nervous time for a lot of use aspiring cadets. We must trust the process and entrust they admission office to select the best fit. I had a great time at AIM and I am very passionate about the Coast Guard Academy. I hope all the best to all applicants!

I hope you get your Appointment. I’m excited for you. Early applicants with good qualities have better chance in EA. You start with 50/50 chance. 50%+ are AIM in EA. Saw many female candidates during visits. Almost looked like 50%. But the actual enrolled maybe 35%. It’s a great service!

Thank you. I now must trust the process and trust my admission's team.
