how long does it take from the time you submit your pre-app questionnaire to have your status changed to applicant? To get started on app process?

USAFA uses a rolling admissions process to help spread out the number of applicants in each phase of the process at any one point in time. Don't take it as a bad sign if there is a month or more between completing the pre-application questionnaire and the opening of your application (see https://www.academyadmissions.com/admissions/the-application-process/admissions-cycle/ for steps involved in the process). In the mean time, please make sure you are on top of the applications to each of your nomination sources, you are preparing for the CFA, and that plans B and C are being prepared.

I am waiting for my son’s ACT score to submit. The scores come out on Tuesday. I’m I way too late???? We’ll work on the other aspects of the application so we can upload as soon as we can
Do U have any words of advise to a stressed out Mom? Thank u in advance for your help! Trying to put our best foot forward..

Have your son read the entire Instructions to Candidates. When is his deadline? He is not too late.

I will gently pass on the same advice that was given to me. Let your son own the process. I know it is hard. Now is the time to step back and let our sons shine. Our stress doesn't help them. I sometimes have moments of internal anxiety, but I don't show it outwardly.
 
A wise moderator often suggests that each applicant should study each academy's application site (every page, every drop-down, etc.). If you would like to help guide your DS along the path, then I would suggest the same for you (it should help take some of the mystery out of the process). If I understand correctly, he has not submitted his pre-application questionnaire yet - if so, the deadline is 12/31, but I would not recommend waiting until the deadline to submit (do it as soon as possible).
