Does USAFA/USNA/USMA superscore the SAT Test scores (10-40 in math, reading, writing+lang), or the section scores (200-800 in math, EBRW)?

I know usafa only looks at the reading test score and not the writing+lang.

Thanks

For the most definitive answer, see each SA’s website. They address this specifically. As others on this forum have said, read every page, tab, pulldown and link.

I looked for this information and did not find it. That is why I am asking this forum...

Hat tip to @NROTCdad. If someone who’s not even applying can find it, well...

For Class of 2023 candidates, if you haven’t already: Read every tab, pulldown and link on an SA’s and ROTC’s website. Own the process. Dig a bit deeper. And use the search function for this forum. Best wishes to you.

My DS considered USNA, so I remembered seeing it, so it was easy to find again. Btw, the USMA website is not the most easily navigable.

Good luck !!

USAFA does super-score.

I don’t think you read my question correctly. I understand all the academies superscore. I’ve known this for 2 years now. My question is about the extent they superscore. The sat is broken down into multiple scores:

Total scores:
1600
Section scores:
800, 800
TEST! Scores:
40, 40, 40

In order to find your section scores they use the TEST scores. Reading: 40 W+L: 40. They add these together (40+40=80 and then multiply that score by 10= 800). Math is one score—40. They multiply this by 20 (40x20=800) to find your SECTION score.

My question was about if they super score the individual TEST scores or if they just super score the SECTION scores. Let’s say you get a 40 on W+L and a 30 on Reading (700) and then on the next test a 30 W+L and 40 of reading (700). If they super score these then that’s an 800.

This is my question: do they superscore the TEST scores (40,40,40), or the SECTION scores (800,800)?

Please don’t accuse me of being careless with this process. Thank you

Section only. You’re right, I misunderstood. But your initial question was nowhere as clear as your follow-up question. No one is accusing you of being careless. But you are in obscure territory — I don’t think there’s a college in America that superscores down to that level.

OK, @23Lt, if you say so.

Someday, if you ever find yourself in command and your troops don’t understand your order, please refrain from saying: “But my order was clear as crystal.” Because if they didn’t understand it, then it wasn’t.

Can you please explain how was my question unclear ? To someone who is an SAT taker, someone who has gone through this process recently, my question would have been very easy to understand. If you didn't find my question clear, then you probably shouldn't have responded to it. It's as simple as that.

I am not trying to start a feud. I just wanted to explain my reasoning.

Hey 23 Lt, most colleges, counselors, and students for that matter think of the SAT as an 800M/800V perfect score test. You clearly have a much deeper understanding of what goes into that 800/800 score. I learned something from you today. While I now recall seeing those "TEST" breakdowns in the past, I had no recollection of the details. Nor do I have any reason to believe colleges or USAFA would look at or even have that level of detail available.
Here's why your question wasn't clear: Because we had no idea what you were talking about. You assumed we all had the same depth of knowledge as you when in fact we were just scratching our heads. So, once you gave us a lesson on the breakdown of the SAT, we get it. With that piece of information, your question is clear. Without it we were lost.
EDIT: I apologize for saying "we". I should only speak for myself. :)

That is true eiei. This discussion is about the more "raw" SAT score out of 40 prior to conversion to the "out of 800" score. The consensus is that SAT "800's" are used for the superscoring.
