Hello,
I am the Asst. Director of the United States Naval Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. We are the oldest continually active Drum and Bugle Corps in existence. We field a Marching ensemble consisting of Brass and Percussion and provide musical support to the Plebe regiment during Plebe summer and to the Brigade of Midshipmen during the Academic year. We perform at Halftime during football games as well as noon meal formations and Formal Parades. If you have any questions feel free to post here or email me at decapio@usna.edu

Very Respectfully,
Rich DeCapio

Can students just participate in an enseamble band and not in the marching band? Or do they have to participate in both groups?

Yes, there are 11 musical ensembles at the naval academy including a Jazz band, an Orchestra and an orchestra for the musical production.

Hello! Thank you for offering your help on this forum!

I know this may be a bit outside of your area of expertise but I figured I would ask anyways. Do you know what kind of opportunities there are for running tech for theatrical productions?

There are 2 drama productions each year, a drama in the fall and a musical in the spring.

We appreciate the support. Our members work very hard and deserve all the credit. It is a privilege to work with our nation's finest.

Plebe summer D&B auditions are less than 2 weeks away

Mr. DeCapio,
We had our first call from DS and he made the D&B. Very excited all the way around. Any update on what the travel schedule will be like for the coming year? Two points, 1) we live far from Annapolis so looking to see if we can coordinate a game or two on the road that may be closer for us to attend and 2) the Tulane game in New Orleans is over the Thanksgiving weekend this year so wondering if he'll be attending that game vs. traveling home. Thanks again for all of the info, looking forward to a great season and the PPW parade among others!

What instruments are in USNA's drum and bugle corps?

You’ll no doubt get an accurate answer from @USNAD&B , but in the meantime, have some fun searching all the USNA Drum and Bugle Corps videos on YouTube. There are various settings - formal parades, football game March On, half-time routines, informal settings. You’ll get a good idea of what’s being used.

One of the best parts of Pentagon staff duty, the Navy cheerleaders and D&B’s annual visit during Army-Navy Game Week:
