DS had a small wrist bone break in the 8th grade and i turned in 20 pages of notes from the Ortho doctor and now i have to have all new x-rays and updates from a radiologist to confirm his hand is fine.

and the links to the DoDMETS site gave zero information on where to go with Concorde. i hope its ok that i just go to our private physician and get new x-rays this afternoon on our own.

That is weird. DS had broken wrist in 9th grade and came to his exam with x-rays and reports from orthopedists. All they wanted to know was that he was wrestling and playing baseball after recovery. They had no interest in the x-rays and reports

Yeah, I broke my thumb skiing in sixth grade, and my doctor just wanted to know if I could still play sports, workout, etc.

They will almost always accept your personal physician's results - only have to use Concorde if you don't want to or cannot pay.

Make sure you give the right submittal info to your Dr.'s office - results should come directly from them.

[And welcome the wonderful world of government / DoD bureaucracy !!!!]

Wait a minute. If you are talking about the medical exam, you MUST go to the DoD-approved physician's office that they specify, for this exam.

If you are talking about just the new wrist Xrays - then sure - you can get those from any imaging practice, but you will (probably) need a write-up from the Orthopod stating that your DS has "full range of motion" and "full use" of his wrist (or words to that effect), after having reviewed the new x-rays and examining your DS in person.

DS fractured his wrist twice (once skiing in 2015 and once playing soccer in 2016) and DODMERB sent Remedial Request. DS had to supply all of the medical records from the orthopedic doctor including the final examination notes that he was good to go without limitations. In addition, DS had to provide a signed statement that he has been and can participate in all athletic activities without limitation and without braces, supports, etc.

The review of the addition information provided for Remedial took about two weeks but then he was deemed qualified. It was a bit of a firedrill chasing the medical records because the skiing incident was in Colorado and the other was in Florida and we don't live in either State. Good luck.

THP is right to clarify - Concorde is a must for actual DoDMERB exam, I was speaking to remedials etc. about using your own Dr.

But OP sure sounds like DoDMERB exam was completed already.

We are right there with yall. Son fractured his right arm 3 times within a year when he was 12 and had surgery the last time to stabilize. Then had two surgeries to remove all the hardware a few years later. He received a Remedial Request for medical records and he had to fill out the form regarding athletic participation (no limitations no braces etc). Supplied everything to them on Monday. So now he's back to waiting for their response. I swear we've been working on this medical process for since July. Their system was down for a month which delayed his exams until late August. He is ready to be qualified already....

Way back in the day (2010), my son broke his collarbone snowboarding the day after he received the big, thick envelope from USNA. It was no big deal. New x-rays when healed, a note from his doctor and he was ready to go.

He is now serving in subs...

Same with my DS.., arm broke 5yrs old and wrist 9th grade. I brought X-rays. Like “ders_dad” only interested how many days he was out in football practice.

no he did the medical exam at the assigned Concorde facility in Sept. this was follow up AMI (part 2)

For those who had to do a follow up with a physician for a remedial, how long did it take to find out who that physician was and all the info? I was informed I needed a remedial and that I would be informed on DODMETS who the assigned physician was, but it’s been 11 days and nothing on DODMETS or DODMERB has info on where to schedule an appointment. Is this a normal wait time or do I need to be checking another source for information?

this is why we are going to a private physician. nothing was ever put in the DoDMETS system telling us where to go or who to call to get an appointment. its been over a week so just biting the bullet and paying for X-Ray out of pocket .

"Over a week..?" I know the DODMERB remedial creates angst, but be patient. DODMERB has a process, and like many things associated with the Military, alleviating angst is not high on the priority list. Be patient, and follow DODMERBs instructions or you will spin your wheels and create more worry.

For future applicants with any prior injury /physical illness , get your documentation in order PRIOR to going to DODMERB exam! Getting a letter from your Dr clearing you of any physical or health related restrictions will likely save you from the dreaded DQ and waiver process.

DS had broken his collarbone in 6th grade and hat 8 screws and a plate permanently installed.
Fast forward to SA process. After reading the SA forums, I was concerned he would get a DQ. Then I read that someone had been proactive and got an exam and letter from their Doctor clearing the kid of any and all restrictions. That is then exactly what we did. Took DS to the same surgeon for a full exam and walked out with a letter clearing him 100% of any limitations or restrictions. When the time came for his DODMERB exam, we brought that document along and it was never an issue, first time Go on his exam.
Best $300 bucks I ever spent!

the only reason I said it that way was because the AMI letter told me that the DoDMETS portal was already updated with the info we needed. it said go there now and see blah blah blah. which DS did and he saw nothing. it just said CASE CLOSED which was confusing. it def didn't see keep checking back and we will give you information at some point in the future as to where to go to get required X-rays

DOD Director was great with us. His statement was "We are here to get them in not keep them out " and called many times to keep contact. We paid for other referrals to dispute. Worked out over end with four years and graduation USMC.

Are there any special forms to be used by private physician to submit x-rays/test results? Opted for private dr because it seems like time is an issue.
After being 3Q w/nominations, DS medical status changed and they now want scoliosis tests. DS does not have scoliosis (at least we don't think he does...) He failed middle school screening and was sent to specialist and determined NOT to have scoliosis. Wonder why this is just now a problem? He was medically cleared/qualified right after his September medical exam. Frustrating. We have an appt with doctor this week. I'm not sure if he will meet the curvature qualifications or not... haven't thought about scoliosis since he was 12. Did we make a mistake in disclosing that info from middle school???

I broke my tibia when I was a junior. I haven’t had to jump through any of these hoops. Is there a reason why I wasn’t forced to follow up like everyone else
