Hello, I have also received and accepted my offer of appointment. I have a question that would really help to have answered right now. Is it still legal to apply to other schools if I have accepted an Offer of Appointment to the Academy? My stepmother is trying to pressure me and is even punishing me for not having finished those applications to other schools. But I can't afford the added distraction of an endless onslaught of personal essays and detail-providing to Universities I have absolutely 0 intention of attending. I'm in a bad spot at home, and could really use some help if anyone has an answer. Thank you.
First, congratulations.
Second, you break your leg immediately before Induction Day and cannot report. USNA essentially gives you an LOA that tells you to stay eligible and in all respects, keep the grades up in all respects (oops!) with a plebe-like college schedule, and please re-apply.
Third, the prudent junior officer (which you one day aspire to be), exercises operational risk management, always has a viable Plan B. If Plan A implodes, a smooth shift to Plan B is ready to go. Pick 1-2 safe and affordable schools, preferably with a NROTC unit you could join as a college programmer.
Fourth, at USNA you will be infinitely more busy and pressured than you are now. Push yourself, assess the time in your day and how you are spending it. Is it Must Do or Nice/Fun To Do? Social media and gaming or other activities are actually not Must Do, no matter how much they feel like it. Your peers here on SAF are applying to multiple SAs, ROTC scholarships, Plan B and C schools.
Things DO happen right before Induction Day that might interfere with you reporting - accident, injury, illness, family crisis.
