Just wondering if anyone else besides me going to VMI this fall is not participating in the summer transition program...

yea im not, i heard about half of each incoming ratmass goes and the other half doesnt so we wont be the only ones

Well, of the 502 of us supposedly on the roster to matriculate there was I believe 247 give or take a few that reported for STP last Monday. I know that we have had one leave, but no one could verify if he will be returning. Which isn't really our business. Please moderators if i've overstepped my boundaries please edit whichever bit is unnecessary.

I had a friend who didn't do STP at VMI. He said academically it was hard to balance everything and that STP would have at least gotten one class out of the way. Why did you decide not to do STP?

I'm unaware f you're talking to me directly, but if so, I'm currently at STP as we speak. Actually all groups have just returned from there PT sessions. I believe STP is a great way to get use to the post, work out, meet some fellow classmates, and lastly, get that one class out of the way and off of your schedule come time for the academic year. What has everyone been doing to prepare themselves for the Ratline? I'm trying to boost my cardio so if anyone has any tips I'll be sure to give them a shot.

Bruno: I'd also like to know if you had any suggestions on things to work on or hills to try while we're here.

Hmmm- I will have to defer to others on that one- it's been quite a bit more than 30 years since my Ratline so I may be a tad rusty- I will however see what my son and his buddies recommend- Keep in mind that they are all going to be Cadre Corporals so they may wish to see you suffer rather than give you the straight scoop! (Just kidding). I will see if they have any thoughts beyond the distance running (3-5 would be my suggestion at elast everyother day), wind sprints up and down the road that leads to the Rifle Range range and lots of Pushups that you are undoubtedly doing now. Also- RahVaMil - you're much closer to the Ratline than me-got any thoughts here?

hmmm, I will be visiting VMI this Saturday....Does that mean I wil have to listen to yelling?? Not that I am concerned about it...
No yelling this weekend- you have to visit in August to get that special effect! Right now it's just summer school and STP in placid; peaceful Lexington VA

Haha yeah, not much to do around here, but still fun none the less. Seeing that it's the weekend the majority of people will be gone. None the less I'm figuring you're not visiting to meet the riveting STPers.

Hey rob try the kettlebells in the weight room. just ask the coach how to do a swing then do that for like 2 mins on 1 min off for however long you can.

oh and yeah the weekends are dead here tpg
