How Long Until We Hear From Admissions?

The Applicant Handbook says that Early Action decisions will be in by January 15. Will they all come in on this date, or will some come in earlier? If so, does anyone know when decisions will start being announced?

Waiting is so hard!

Thanks in advance for any info.

If you read back through last year's threads, you will see that admissions decisions will be released in waves - the first should be coming very soon.

This year the admissions process has changed. The decisions will not be released until January 15th. No more waves!

When we went to CFAD we were told by admissions that they believe it will all be released at one time on 1/15. The admission officer told me afterward they have a new Director of Admissions so the process is not set in stone but to plan on 1/15 and be surprised if you hear earlier.

I can confirm this. I got back from the Genesis Invitational on Tuesday and was told that all EA decisions will be released at once on or before January 15th. There are about 500-600 EA applications this year, and they can appoint up to 45% of the incoming class through EA. Based on last year’s number of appointments offered, this is about 170 offers of appointments.

Does anyone know if this also applies to applicants who received a LOA? I assumed my DS would have heard from admissions by now and we haven't .

No one will hear early. All will hear January 15 for EA.

It certainly is a test of being patient, isn't it? Just making sure the t's are crossed and i's are dotted with a LOA. And then having to wait some more. ..I know what you are going thru. We are in the same position.

Thanks for all the feedback! I just got an email saying that my:

"USCGA Application is Scheduled for Review. Your record has been scheduled for review in Early Action and will be forwarded to the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board in the next two weeks."

Has anyone else received this email, and is it a good/bad/neutral sign?

Glad to see we are not alone! After reading my post, I realized I put DS, it should be DD! Hope to hear something soon!

As my DS is reminding me...patience..its a long time till January 15! I would like to know though how we can tell if he passed his physical without any troubles..it just says complete.

After the status on dodmets changes to "Closed" the file is sent to dodmerb for review. It looks like your file is still being reviewed by Concorde.

My DD received an LOA from Admissions that is dated 11/26/2018. It states that, pending a final review by the Admissions Committee, she is guaranteed a full appointment to the Class of 2023. She also just received her DODMERB clearance on the portal. Does this mean that she is definitely in? Or is there some other wrinkle involved in the final review?

She is in when she is offered the appointment. A final review is just that, one more look-see. Continue to tend all alternate plans even if appointment is offered, in case something “breaks” before the report-in date.
She is in an excellent position.

Great advice by Capt MJ. Nothing is assured until she receives an official appointment (although, as stated, she is in an excellent position). Also good advice to continue with alternate plans. Every year there are appointees (including those with LOAs) who suffer injury or illness that causes them to lose their appointment. Sometimes a deferment to the next class is offered, but in the interim families are left scrambling for alternate plans. Keep backup plans in place for as long as feasibly possible, as some appointees may decide during swab summer not to remain at CGA. It is better to spend some money for that piece of mind, than to lose out on a semester should plans change.
