Graduating High School Early

I'm planning on graduating high school early since I got held back in elementary school for English proficiency. I'm currently on track with earning credits through online.

I'm in my freshman year, should I start my pre-candidate application next year?

Also, IF I later decide to do 4 years of high school, would I still be able to postpone my application process?

Please make sure you start with primary source documents for guidance (e.g. https://www.academyadmissions.com/)

https://www.academyadmissions.com/a...n-process/application-steps/#prequestionnaire indicates "To become a candidate for appointment to the Academy, you must complete and submit a Pre-Candidate Questionnaire. You may begin as early as March 1 of your Junior year of high school. It must be completed by December 31st."

IMHO, I would finalize my graduation timeline before I started the SA/college application process.

I love this question. Just my opinion, from
our experience they are looking at the rigor of classes that you take versus what is offered at your school. Not all dual enrollment is created equal. If AP/IB English Lit is offered at your school and you take engl 101 at state tech school online it will be viewed that you did not take the more rigorous course. However, if you have rocking Sat/Act scores (I mean amazing scores) and you’re college courses on campus at a top college your junior/senior year then that could be considered more rigorous. The important thing is to take the most rigorous schedule possible. Be prepared for congressional interviews who ask how you took the most rigorous schedule and left early? What about involvement and leadership? If a service academy is your goal you’ve got to think big all four years of h.s. You’re competing for a spot against some of the most amazing students in the country. Think.... what extra can I do that makes me extraordinary.

will you be old enough to apply first of all?

Yes, I got "held" back two years back in elementary. I attended a school in foreign public education system, which affected me when I transferred to an international school.

Check your dates to make sure. Also, one thing to consider: you want to be as mature, and as well educated, as your classmates. If you leave early, are you missing AP Calc ? Chemistry? Physics? If you enroll in a local U (NOT community college but regular 4 year university), they may let you slide on English 4, maybe not.

If you grew up in a foreign land, are you US Citizen? are your parents?

Might be a good idea, once you’ve done your research at the Academy’s website, to reach out to admissions. In addition to clarifying anything you still need to know pertinent to your personal situation they will probably put you in touch with a local rep who will work with you through the process.

I'm in my freshman year but also taking sophomore year's core courses. I'm certainly not in a rush, so I might take all required/suggested courses by USAFA and do all AP in my senior year.

I was born in Hawaii and PCS to Japan when I was younger. I am a U.S. citizen, as well as my parents.

To be honest, I just don't like the atmosphere of my classes and school because they're so immature.

Thanks!

Hahahahahaha! I find this exceptionally funny!!! Immature high school students! Who'd have thought that?

OK, you didn't ask but here's the fix: GET A JOB. TAKE UP A SPORT (IMMEDIATELY). GET A JOB. GO VOLUNTEER AT SOMETHING THAT FUELS YOUR PASSION. GET A JOB.

Good luck!

Thanks, it might sound funny, and it is. Our school is ghetto outside of "Academy Wing", our teachers hate our class due to the fact that many are continuously talking while they are teaching. I feel that it's a lot worse than my last DoDEA middle school on base in Japan.

Striving my best in all areas like leadership, community service, work experience, academics, etc...!
