Hello, I didn't believe this was a post worthy of the main USAFA forum so I thought I would post it here. I finished all of my items October 17th, had my last evaluation in by October 23rd, and my evaluator sent my interview evaluation on the 26th, so I've just barely had my application submitted for 3 weeks and I am majorly stressing. I find it hard to keep myself from refreshing the portal several times every day or searching through the forums for some sign of when I'll get a response, and seeing all the people who have already received an LOA hasn't helped much. I know that it's a small chance I even get an appointment much less receive an LOA, so I was just wondering if any parents or students have any suggestions as far as playing the waiting game. I know each applicant is different, but I would just like to know any information on your experience during this waiting period. Thank you!

Don't worry. Your post is worthy. Furthermore it will get more exposure in the USAFA forum.

Mod Note:
Moving the thread from Off-Topic to USAFA.

1. The portal updates once a day early in the morning. So if you check it when you wake up and it's a no-go, then know there's nothing forthcoming for the day. They'll also send you an email to check your portal if you get an appointment or something about your application changes, so no email also means no change.
2. Enjoy high school! There will be things you'll miss so enjoy it. Go to parties, meet up with friends, go on adventures, enjoy time with family.
3. You can always update your application with new achievements and activities. Keep hitting your academics, leadership, and extracurriculars hard and excelling.
4. Take a deep breath. Try to get in the mindset that you won't here back until March or April and focus on other things.

Thank you for your suggestions. I really think I should focus on number 2 and I think since it is also something my dad, siblings, councilor, teachers, etc, keep telling me, then maybe I should listen.

TFO4175 - I completed my application in September and got my MoC nomination in October. Nothing more to be done for USAFA. I am working on my fitness, taken up a part time job and am focusing on my plan B of ROTC. I have a LOA from USNA but no nomination yet. Keep yourself focused and make best use of the time at hand. All the best.

You are already wise beyond your years, young man.

This is the advice that is given so often - perfect peer advice. Cultivate this mindset - it will pay off for you as an adult in all aspects of life.
